My owner is a Realtor with Century 21 Award in San Diego. When my marketing guru first told me to join ActiveRain, start reading, start commenting, and start blogging, I was, like, uh, no.

He insisted, though. Told me it would be good for me. I was, like, uh, no. He kept insisting, and eventually I succumbed.

A few months ago after doing a lot of hyper-local blog posts, I did a search on "Mission Valley condos" and found myself on the first page of Google. Not only that, but I'm still there, and I'm the only Realtor listed.

I bring that up because I've held the same property open for another agent for three of the last five weeks. At the first one, I had 36 visitors and met a couple that I connected with. At the second one, just last week, that couple returned and asked if they could take another one of my Open House Survivor Kits. Today they returned for a third time to talk with me further about what they were looking for. What was really neat is that they had in their hands printouts of all 23 of my hyper-local posts about Mission Vallen condos, probably about 50 pages total. How neat is that!?

If you write it, and write it well -- with good, lasting information -- and let people know where to find it by including your ActiveRain blog URL on all your marketing materials, well, people will read it! I ask again, How neat is that?!

Hi Jim ~ That is *very* neat!! And wow - the only realtor on the page for that search term - that's super.  Glad you listened to your marketing guru.

Hey, Liz - Yet my marketing guru likes to walk around telling himself that no one ever listens to him. Sometimes he reminds me of Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Marie on Everybody Loves Raymond. If you want a good guilt trip, he can help you. LOL.

Hey, Roy - Never would I have actually believed that the simple act of blogging could have such an impact on my business.

Hey, Robin - I'm not sure he's so much as persuasive as he is at sending one on a guilt trip. See my comment to Liz above.

Hey, Margaret - Russel had told me a lot about you, so I just had to meet you. He's rarely wrong about people. It's that South Texas instinct that he has.
