Active Rain is Great...Texas Rain not so much...

I was at Lowe's yesterday looking for sand bags (they were OUT) to help prevent any water coming up on my back patio and ended up purchasing a new fancy BBQ Grill...great sale by the way. And I met a wonderful woman who also wanted to purchase a grill but did not have a way to get it home.  So John and I had the truck, and blah, blah, blah next thing you know we both have fancy 4 burner grills, rotesseries, and grill covers in tow.  While they loaded both grills into our truck, my new friend told me that all I had to do was call the City of North Richland Hills - that is where I live- and they would delivery FREE of CHARGE 20 bags to my driveway!!!

So before you go venture to Home Depot or Lowe's you might want to call your city and see if they will do the same.  Unless you just want to check out the BBQ Grills anyway.

I feel for you guys - we could use some here.  Our normal average rainfall is about 8" and we had less than 2" in the year that ended 6/30 (they keep track from 7/1 to 6/30)

Now Have a Blessed Day,

Stacie,

22 days in a row and counting!

You need to send some of that rain to Florida. We need all we can get at this point, we`re still in drought mode...

Nice little story about helping someone, and getting something back in return!  Lead with a giving hand...

I would love to share guys......we had 4.93 inches on Monday alone.  I have lived here for 35 years and this is a first.  We are so use to rationing, for a few weeks I had buckets in the back yard  to save the rainwater.....NOT any more!  And if Texas had a few hills, maybe it would roll off to Florida and California and help you out!  Blessings Around  Stacie

Well I feel for you- about 3 years ago it rained here for over 45 days and 45 nights- I was waiting for the animals to come 2 by 2. It was miserable!

Stacie you must have a covered patio - where are you going to be grillin?  Tonight I'm opening up my garage door here in Plano and grilling from just outside it! I'm a native Floridian and I swear this is hurricane season in South Florida right here in North Texas! Drought for 3 years flood for 40.....!

Karen  You are correct.......I have a covered patio in the back.....which was the whole purpose of the sand bags.....so I could make sure the water did not rise up on the patio.  I have 2 Yorkies and it is hard enough to get them to step out on the grass under normal conditions....and they would really freak if they jumped out the pet door into 2 inches of water :-)    So you must be use to this kind of weather being from Florida...but those Everglade insects......they are brutal.  I love Florida Beaches though.  Enjoy your grill experience.....yesterday I made burges and rotesserie chicken with herbs and honey.....leftovers tonight.

Frank fortunately we did not become victims of the Katrina disaster, we are just in the middle of almost a month of downpours that has caused several counties in Texas to be consider disaster areas.  We are one of the lucky ones so far, just standing water, but all of it is outside...nothing in the house so far.  Make it a great day and thanks for reading my blog.  S :)

I'm loving today! SUNNY and HOT the way it should be! Hope your yard is drying out for the pups to venture out in - I have a black lab mix and she hates the water - go figure - she's the same way with going out on the wet grass - I've got to walk on it first!oatie bird and noel Here's my girl Noel - black lab mix and the terror of a bird, Oatie, the Quaker

Karen-  Thank you so much for the picture!  I also had a Black Lab years ago....wonderful dog "Polly" but she did have her snoring and stomach issues.  I also had a cockatiel "Baby", and she was also a terror, she would sit on the dog and swope at the cat ....very disfunctional family of critters.

This is Miss Pookie, my youngest.  I will look for one of Charley and add him to an upcoming segment.

We had a great day being outside today, grass is cut, weeds pulled (for the most part) and tonight is bath night!  Have a good evening and thanks for the picture.

Miss Pookie is adorable!

We had a full size Yorkshire terrier named, "Francisco" when I was in high school.  He was given to our family by the parish priest of the same name who could no longer care for him.  Animals are great but lots of work.  Our bird is a "rescue" and has never really bonded with us but he's got a good home. I don't think we'll ever get another after this one - just Tuesday we had to take him to Southlake ER vet because he flew at my daugther and landed hard on the floor - came up bleeding from his beak - we thought it was life threatening and turned out to be he bit his tongue! Oh, too many other stories to go into here with that Oatie... Thanks for sharing, I'll look for your other baby too.

Glad you got some stuff done in the sun! It's been a welcome relief!

Oh shoot.....Oatie must be a trip!  I will look for my CD of pictures of Charley or just breakdown and take some so you can see my boy.  He is an "Ole Man" now, he was a rescue, not sure how old he is, but when I got him they thought he was about 2 years old.  I have had him for 12 so he is up there...lost a few teeth, but still thinks he is a stud.  Everyone loves him.  I use to live in a loft in Deep Ellum and hardly anyone knew my name, but I would actually get invites to parties, with "Chalrey's Mom" on them.

Make ti a great day!  TTYL

Too funny invitations thru your pets! How neat you lived in Deep Ellum! I love it down there - reminds me of my college days - I'm sad that the Gypsy Tea Room is no longer a concert venue - divey but good for intimate settings for bands.
