Sure, you might be able to buy "stuff" cheaper at a mega-super-store with international reach, but how's that compare to buying at the locally owned and operated establishment?
Perhaps you're buying the same stuff . . . How's the shopping experience?
Any time I travel, I go to the local restaurants. That's where I meet interesting people and learn the real story of the town.
At the local hardware store, I'm seldom in the store longer than a minute before a friendly and helpful person guides me to find what I seek.
I get excited when I see cool and interesting organizations like Nashville Originals a collage of local restaurants working together to leverage each other.
Shopping local businesses satisfies me (more) because I can actually KNOW the owner . . . and there's a specialness about seeing that owner's passion for the business . . .
I don't get to see that genuine passion at the super-store.
I know that my business is a local business and that a key to the success of my business is tied directly to my willingness and ability to support other local businesses.
Interdependency among local businesses is in large part what drives the building of a strong community.
When my children were literally in the throes of death because we could not find those "Silly Animal Bracelets" at ANY of the "Big Box" stores for toys . . . we turned to the locally owned and operated Shindigs in the heart of Green Hills . . . they had plenty :-)
Deb and I just finished painting our gathering room in our house and wanted to hang some pictures, so we've been "Art Shopping" . . . Nothing was really grabbing our attention.
Deb had a MAJOR AHA which has led to the creation and acquisition of 5 of the finest pieces of art on the planet.
We have 5 very talented local artists right here in our very home (LOCAL) . . . Our Family!
Deb "commissioned" each child to create pictures to go into specific frames.
They went to work, and the results are stunning.
Deb is herself an excellent artist - so a few of her works are also hanging.
My contribution is a cool statue I carved while in high school.
Want your business to thrive?
Think LOCAL!
I'm just sayin'
