As agents and the country come to a slower time of the year because of Christmas and holidays, nope - not for me. In fact, I love this time of the year to really set pace to my following year sending it off to a great start.

Nope, no time for holiday planning and neither do I have time to wrap Christmas gifts just yet. What I realized over the years is that the last 2 weeks is my most productive time of the year in terms of planning and at the same time, I get uninterrupted time with no showings hardly at all as well as the phones do tend to ring ALOT less.

Most of the country is on vacation and that's a great thing.

I love cheating and these last 2 weeks, I'll be cheating MUCHO. Always a great head start to practise the things I want to work on (on a new schedule for 2010).

I also noticed that January and February - the coldest months of winter are also the time when people typically make a housing decision for the year. Those that want to buy and sell will start considering it in January - long before they actually make contact with an agent 2 to 6 months later.

My observations over the years have been - by January and February, I would know how my year would go. I hope you noticed it too.

If you start giving yourself a fresh start in January after the holidays, you might already be 2 months behind.

LOOK - The play clock is down to the final 2 minutes.
Are you going to play as if it was a TIE - that the last 2 minutes will decide how your game/ year will end?

Loreena, your last two weeks thought reminded me of the two minute warning at the end of a pro football game. Time to finish up a WINNER!! Good for you.

I like taking slow time to come up with a game plan as well. It can be very productive.  Sets you off in the right direction for the year ahead.

I agree 100%. I am doing some catch up, some planning, and any/everything else on the long list of "to-do's". It is sorta relaxing working and being more focused on the parts of the business that maybe need it or are lacking. And tweeking the business plan is always exciting!

We're already working on our first mailing, and personal touch campaign to hit the gates running. We have to finalize our 2010 plan and review our client list, make sure we've touched everyone, etc. This is the time to rev the engines so we can leave the gates with power come January.

Hi Loreena... I have been so busy this month that my usual planning time has had to be pushed off a bit... I am hoping the week between Christmas and New Years might provide that opportunity!

Loreena, this follows your point in a previous blog about making a game plan for the next day before going to bed. I can't tell you what a difference that one tip has made for me! The idea is to hit the ground running, to know where you're heading and having planned how you're going to get there. All the best to you in 2010. I look forward to many more posts from you. -- Tanya in Montreal

It's sort like when you are going on vacation and need to get a lot done in the 2 - 3 days before leaving to the airport. Have you notice how much we get done under time pressure? I think this is one of the reasons why so much is accomplished during the last 2 weeks of the year.

Thanks Loreena!

I find the last couple weeks of the year absolutely important to be prepared for January 1st of the new year.  Coming up with strategy and a plan of attack and ready for implementation.

Keep that fire burning Loreena. Its important to start off the year right, but don't waste the last 2-3 weeks either.

Loreena ~ Yes its time to SPEED UP not slow down.  Someone said in the office today and I quote "Nobody's looking for a rental this time of the year"  I turned and said really?  I have a appointment in about 5 minutes to go show one of my rentals...lol  Off I went a few minutes later.

I agree totally Loreena, This is the time to make sure the game plan is set and everything is ready to go January 1. I have been spending the last 4 weeks perfecting my Touch programs to make sure I have a plan of action for everyone have met and all that I will be meeting. It has been alot of work and way past due. But now I am ready!. Loreena I have to thank you for your great posts, they have been very informative and given me new perspectives ans well as great motivation.

I may have said it too quick. My phone is still ringing and I'm still showing. I'm not complaining either. It looks like 2009 will go down as showing right till the very end.
