I had the honor this weekend of watching one of my best friends graduate from UNC!
The Dean Dome was full of friends and family for the December 2009 Commencement.
The undergraduates proudly wore their "Carolina Blue" caps and gowns.
Dr. Lisa Carey (seated) gave the commencement speech. She's a top breast cancer researcher, and did a wonderful job with the Commencement Address.
She focused on five topics that are well worth focusing on, whether you graduated last weekend or last century!
1. Celebrate your accomplishments.
2. Do something you can be proud of.
3. You're in charge now - just don't embarrass your parents.
4. You are better and stronger than you think you are.
5. Be a problem solver.
I was very impressed with the address - Dr. Carey made it clear that she's a doctor, not a speaker, but if she does this well at the things she's NOT good at, she must be a fabulous doctor!
My kiddos....as usual, hubby had to work.
And finally - the proud graduate. Way to go!
