Estes Park Colorado: A Mountain Wonderland at 7,522 Feet Above Sea Level
On Sunday my wife Hannele and I drove from Boulder up to Estes Park. It took us about 45 minutes along Highway 36 including a couple of stops along the way. Estes Park is an incredibly beautiful mountain town set in a valley surrounded by snowcapped mountain peaks up to 14,000 feet high.
The town sits near the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. We usually spend our time in the park or hiking the area around town when we go there. But on Sunday, we spent the afternoon visiting the many shops in the center of Estes Park town. We did some Christmas shopping and had a great time just walking around.
The slide show below is mostly photographs of the Estes Park downtown area. There is a warm and cozy feeling to the town center. It’s a great place to visit, especially this time of year. And the amazing thing is that it’s an easy drive to Estes Park from Boulder or Denver area. It’s truly a magical mountain town right in the backyard of Denver Metro.
Our day ended at the Kind Coffee shop, an eco-friendly coffee shop at the edge of the downtown area. After a nice hot cup of chai tea, we headed back down to Boulder.
I hope you enjoy the photos of Estes Park. You can click here to visit the official Estes Park visitor website.
