Busy Mondays Past and Present

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Acres

I know, I should be thinking of Christmas, but fortunately, I have clients that are interested in viewing homes the beginning of the week, so I'm working on Mondays scheduling. I will be meeting with clients from a nearby city in the morning and a couple from out of state in the afternoon. They are both clients that I encountered over a year ago, and each couple will look at two homes.

The one home that I scheduled a showing for is located approximately 11.29 miles from the listing office. It's not the first time I've talked to their secretary/scheduler, but I still made it clear that I did not have a key for the electronic lockbox. Still, she calls me back and informs me everything is all set; I remind her that I do not have THE key, so she tells me, no problem, we have a key for you here in the office. So she  calls the home owner back and makes "arrangements". She wouldn't have had to call them back... It's pretty RARE that I'm going to drive into MIDLAND to pick up KEYS for homes in SANFORD and take them back  (you are kidding, right? ).

This past Monday, Trista & I (and Miss Alivia too!) head out to uninstall and install signs.... It's very cold, the ground is starting to freeze.... We get to the first house, we got both the road sign and then the one by the water, I already picked up the lockbox last week and returned the key for that one, on to the next! As we pull up, I immediatly notice that the dangle part of the sign is missing. We still have to get the gold post, I head for the door to get the lock box - it's not there..... sign by the water... This one wasn't coming out to easy.. I think we need to carve the bottoms and make them pointy, it's like they expand...because we can move it up - and the tallness is not helping... we finally got it out... now back to the one by the road, Trista couldn't get that one out by herself. It's barely even wriggling, but Trista has experience, and she knows how to get a job done! Gently bump it with the truck a couple times, being VERY careful not to break the post - the broker would FROWN on that. Finally we meet with success!

We are very cold, we decide that without the auger there's no way we're going to get the installs done. So we went to the bank the post office and one of our favorite places! A DOLLAR STORE! By then, it's time to head for home, her husband gets home earlier than mine.... I get home and I listen to the messages... one of them is my office voicemail informing me of a message. So I call my voice mail, it's a message from the broker something about so and so called and Dawn got the lockbox and the dangles and to get the gold posts and to call her da da da dah.  Upon calling the office, she's left for the day so I ask for voicemail and let her know that I just got her message and I already got the signs and the lockbox was gone, but now at least I know where it went!

This particular owner told me three weeks ago they were taking it off the market for the winter. The caller turned out to be an agent from a town about 30 miles away who is now the listing agent for this property.

We also did signs on two other occasions earlier this month, this one was on the list.... but since I'm not psychic, I don't know which one to get first and which one to get last..... On December 4'th we did both installs and removals, but we got really cold and went to the beauty salon, and then on the 12'th I hired more done, but they missed the location mentioned above.... I still have signs to go in... and in a month or two I may have some to remove.

My 2010 New Years Resolution : No listing can expire between January 1 and March 31! Seriously, next fall, even though the standard listing is six months, I'm going to go for 3 or 9 month listing contracts to avoid this!

There are a zililion gold posts, but I only have one back! And Trista only has one.

I have a listing to process ..... couple phone calls to make .... should hit the store later..... good thing I can type fast!!!

Never a dull day for me!
