Trinity Lakes - An overnight trip from Medford Oregon

My family and I just got back from a place we'd never been, Trinity Lakes California.  We were all set to go to Lake Shasta, a short 2 1/2 hour drive from Medford, but a friend of ours, a local Boy Scout Scoutmaster said, if you're thinking of going to Shasta, you really ought to consider going to Trinity Lakes.  He went on to say, its just like Lake Shasta, but without all of the crowds, and boy was he right, not to mention, a little cooler.

It was supposed to hit 113 degrees on July 4th at Lake Shasta, only hit 105 at Trinity Lakes.  The Lake was a lot lower than previous years due to the drought conditions the locals said, however, we made the most of it.  We found a "beach" that wouldn't have been there in previous years because the lake was so low.  Our 5 kids had a blast swimming out to an island 200 feet off shore and plenty of room to play near the shore.  It was right at the opening to the river as well, so we got some good mixed water temperatures.  Some places in the water were a little cooler than others, the average is around 75 degrees, made for a great time!

When you are looking for a lot of fun, not too far from Medford, Jackson County area, Trinity Lakes is a great road trip of about 2.5 - 3 hours.  Let me know how you like it if you visit.
