Colorado Springs...Something for Everyone

Well, it's been almost exactly 17 years since Tom and I loaded up our 1981 Caddy El Dorado and drove from Boston, Massachusetts to Colorado Springs, CO. We were young and in love and were looking for...SOMETHING.

When we got here, we found it! Beautiful Mountains and Valleys. Gorgeous blue skies and planes. Clean and trash free with NO CITY TRAFFIC. It was like paradise on earth.

Although we still love Colorado Springs and are not planning on moving, it's lost the "small town" feeling it had in 1990. Our population has more than doubled and is still going up. We have SO many new medical and retirement facilities, shopping centers and learning institutions, "kitchy" artisan shops and all SORTS of places to hike and bike and get on into the physical fitness groove.

There are communities for people who want to enjoy the "easy living" that community maintenance affords, golf course communities, horse property, new subdivisions with state of the art schools, old Victorian and Craftsman Period structures, Metro Loft spaces, trendy college town multi unit communities with Internet cafe's and sidewalk vendors...YOU NAME IT.

Living in Colorado Springs is kind of like being on vacation...except you have to go to work most days. What's it like where YOU live and work?

Hi Bob and Carolin:

So, what's it like in E Phoenix Valley? Would it be a nice place for a trip? I have some "Snowbirds" who go to AZ and NM, but I'm not sure why...it's not that cold here in the winter.

Lania, I moved to Colorado Springs in 1989, about the same time as you. I agree, it is almost overwhelming how much it has grown since then. But it's still a great place to live.

Hi Leon! Yes, it is a great place to live, but I miss the small town feeling it used to have. Kind of like Woodland Park and Divide is becoming...I should have bought some land up there when it was still pretty reasonable!
