I love this business! I've stayed in for 12 years in the Colorado Springs, CO market and can't imagine really doing anything else. I know it's right for me. I have had all kinds of experiences and worked with all kinds of people over the years. It never ceases to amaze me, though, that some people equate success and professionalism with snobbery!

You know the ones I mean. You can hear it in their voices the MOMENT you meet them on the phone!

"Well, of COURSE I'm familiar with that community! I practically sold the filing single handedly!"

"I'd rather if you'd call my assistant as I'm servicing over 60 listings at present and cannot possibly handle my own phone calls..."

"Yes, I received your..."offer", and I have presented it to my Sellers. They opted not to respond as they are only entertaining serious proposals at this time."

"Feedback on your listing? Well, I'm not certain that I recall the property...oh, was it the one with the quaint miniature scale master bath?"

"How do you do? I'm your agent Fioreli Forditellioneto, Broker Extrodinaire for the Maestro Team. Finally we meet at your closing! My team has told me so much about you that I feel almost as if I know you personally! Perhaps when you move up to your next property, I shall accompany you on some showings...time permitting."

The most professional people that I know are not snobs. Especially in a people business, one can hardly be effective if he or she is a snob. They will probably starve.

Hey what are they doing in Colorado Springs?  I thought they were only in Montgomery County around here!  LOL...that's funny!

LOL!!!!  Now, I needed that!

At the 4th of July Barbeque I went to I met a nice woman who told me how the real estate agent who helped her buy her last home treated HER.  She felt like he talked down to her through out the whole process and she said she would never use him again.  Pompous attitudes spill over on the customer as well and that's never good.

You really did a great job with this post and put a great big smile on my face.  I was getting a "cold" feeling from some of the articles here on AR tonight and then I found yours.

Thanks!

Great story.  I have experienced that many times and I always get a chuckle.  One must have to really work hard to lift themselves up with all that fake attitude.

I called a listing agent before showing a home, but the LA told me I had the wrong number. Realizing I did have the right LA, right address and right phone number I called back. Exasperated, he informs me again I have the wrong guy. I tell him I do have the right guy and he proceeds to tell me in a loud voice "well, just go in-it's vacant. But in the Realtor remarks he wrote occupied-call LA before showing. OK, thanks. You get all kinds of characters.

The problem is that some people see this behavioe by agents as Power. They need to feel that the agent no matter how clueless they agent might be is more Powerful simply by acting like a snot, snob would be too nice

Hi Lania, I think I have talked to ALL of them before! Not that I would care to speak to any of them a second time, but I really thought they reserved the "snobbery" for recruiters!

I've met a few of these!  Funny how some don't have the time of day for you until they know which property you are bringing them an offer on!  Thanks for the morning smiles.

No room for any of that nonsense at all. We're just selling houses, though we've all got those who think doing that well comes with entitlement. It's always great to watch karma do it's stuff with them. Thanks for the nice graphics.

Lania,
My take on people who are snobbish is they are really very insecure and that is their way of trying to elevate themselves and make themselves feel important.   Sad isn't it?  Of course that could be because of my extraordinary understanding of the psychological workings of the average person's  mind.  LOL!!!

Lania, You shared the truth in a wonderful humorous way and your graphics are a dellight! I am sure we could all add a few more...

."Oh you didn't think it was necessary to cancel that appointment?"

" Do you think these deadlines in the contract are important?"

"And why you didn't tell us about the bats in the attic?"

You can  come up with the clever photos.

Thanks... this was hysterical and yet sad.  Great choice of images to go along with their typical snobbish remarks!  I get these types of agents regularly in my market area as well.

OMG!! I love this post it describes the majority of Raleigh Realtors. This is why I am successful because I am the opposite of the snob and people can still relate to me!!

Wow... we've never met, yet you know all the same people I do! Ha ha ha.... I needed a good laugh.  Some people are so full of themselves, and the saddest part of it (at least to me) is that they don't get how much people are turned off by it.  You guys sound great, and I look forward to working with you sometime.  I'm only in Woodland Park, so it could happen! ttfn
