Friday, December 18. Sandlapper Singers. Get ready to enjoy the beauty of more than 100 voices from Satchel Ford Elementary School, Crayton Middle School and the Falcon Singers from A.C. Flora High School singing your favorite Christmas songs joined by the Sandlapper Singers instrumental ensemble as we celebrate the many things for which we are thankful. Reception follows. Collecting the talents of more than 200 local children and 40 professional dancers, this award-winning Nutcracker has been proclaimed by The State newspaper “as close to perfect as you can get.” Experience it for yourself! Friday, December 18-Sunday, December 20. Carolina Christmas Celebration. Want to get into the real spirit of Christmas? Come to Spring Valley Baptist Church's annual Carolina Christmas Celebration. The Celebration's theme is "Peace - The Greatest Story Ever Told," and the entertainment will include dance, comedy, drama, video, a 100-voice choir, a full orchestra, soloists and even falling snow! Tickets for the Carolina Christmas Celebration are free but required for seating. Cost is free. Spring Valley Baptist Church is located at 91 Polo Road. Historic Columbia Foundation is featuring two Victorian-era holiday events for families this Saturday! Breakfast with Santa (8:30-10:30 a.m.) and Family Day: HO, HO, HO Holiday! (10am-12pm). Breakfast with Santa offers a continental breakfast with a Victorian-era Santa Claus. Families can have pictures taken with Santa or bring their own cameras for the photo opportunity. After breakfast, everyone is invited to stay for a horse-drawn carriage ride. During Family Day: HO, HO, HO Holiday, families can enjoy the decorated historic houses and children can shop for items on the “Elf Shelves” then secretly wrap in Santa’s workshop. There will be many other activities for the whole family to enjoy so visit the Historic Columbia Foundation for more information on Breakfast with Santa and Family Day: HO, HO, HO Holiday! Wednesday, December 23. Dinosaur Day at Winter Fest! It'll be a dino-mite day at the State Museum. Come out to Winter Fest and make some dinosaur crafts, visit the winter starlabs and catch the movie “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs”. Wednesday, December 23. Soulful Holiday Concert! After the Holiday shopping is done and you need a place to unwind, head to Rust in the Vista for some smooth jazz and drink specials on martinis and wine.
