Video is exploding on the web... especially for real estate

[Updated October 2007] It's safe to say that two years ago, video on the web was only a dream and only accessible by a very few, patient people.

However, to illustrate that video is EXPLODING online (literally), below is a short list (and I'm sure missing many sites) of all online video websites as of this second - they do seem to crop up almost daily.

So, for all those naysayers out there who don't believe the web is going video.... here's proof!

Sample Community Video Tour from WellcomeMat.com

Sample Property Tour from Veoh.com

Sample tours from Brightcove

Sample Video Tour from Revver

all of tv is awesome.  you could waste a whole day there if all the links would work.

It most certainly is.  =]

I know that this list has more of a video aggregation site 'tilt', but we'd love it if you would include AgentCasts on it anyway! (or on any other list you may want to, for that matter)

We're a real estate podcast and video property tour production solution for realtors, and we're way into this stuff, for obvious reasons.  =]

I checked out agentcast.com and was impressed with their sample video.  Now the questions is effective marketing of such a tool.

Sure you can display them at open houses but how can you utilize it to generate new business.

Hi, Fred!

Cool set of links. However, you missed one -- realpeoplerealstuff.com. We launched this video classifieds site on May 1, 2007, and realtors really seemed to catch on quickly. Moreover, because it focuses on video classifieds (versus cute videos of baby's first haircuts), it's a lot easier for someone who's actually looking for a home to find real estate listings quickly, in the geographic area where they plan to buy. I somehow doubt that someone looking for a home would check a site called "Stupid Videos" on the off chance that a realtor might have posted a video there. :)

Video classifieds (as opposed to still photos or "virtual tours," which are really just slide shows) offer tremendous potential for realtors to sell not only their listings, but themselves. After all, part of choosing a realtor is choosing someone you can trust -- and video allows a realtor to introduce themselves and be personable in a way that text and photos simply can't capture.

Plus, you can use sound to your advantage. For instance, Jane Realtor could stand in the front yard and say, "This is a very quiet neighborhood -- hear the birds? And it's safe -- just look at those kids biking down the street."

Check us out at realpeoplerealstuff.com, and let us know what you think!

Cheers,

Rachel Silver

Wow Fred, thanks for the long long list of sites, I had no clue there were so many.  I'm definitely going to check a few out.  And I totally agree with you video is going to be a bigger and bigger each year.

Talk about a growing industry. I had read about a couple but didn't realize the magnitude of growth in this industry.

Hi, There are a lot of video sharing sites around. You sure have heard about YouTube, Revver or Dailymotion, but there are many others competing to be the number one, or targeting a specific audience, whether geographically (China, Japan, Turkey…), by language (German, Arabic, French…) or for the kind of content they enable to publish (cooking, planes, extreme sports…). I have compiled a growing list of more than 600 video sharing sites and video search engines that you can check at http://www.ilikesharingvideos.com/video-sharing-sites/en/ For each of them, you will get useful information such as their history, the country from which most of their visitors come, their niche, their rank, the latest news about them... This site offers some other interesting features, like a list of video search engines, how to make money with your videos, how to create your own YouTube site. So if you are interested in video search engines, publishing your own videos, or even online video marketing, give an eye to this site, it worths it. Cheers
