Are we socialists yet?

Last spring I wrote a blog about how we were moving towards socialism in this country. Instantly, the comments came flying at me, rebuking my blog, my debating skills, my flag logo, and everything else about me that the lefties could latch onto. I was an idiot who knew nothing about socialism, and they had to feign insult that someone would question their leaders intent.

The cat is out of the bag now. Anyone who cannot see that is seriously not playing with a full deck. The leftists can quit feigning insult, and just come out and admit that they got what they wanted. In my opinion, we are socialists of the highest order now. Our citizens will be taken care of from birth to death. The ultimate security blanket.

Since the 40's, and more so since the 60's, the workers and producers of this country have been taking care of those who want more and more security. We get up and work, find a way to get ahead, scrimp and save for a better life, while those we support (not our family, the leaches) live a life of "give me, give me".

Anyone who has ever lived in the ghetto for even a short while (been there done that) has seen what taking away someones initiative does to their life. What would take me paragraph after paragraph to explain can be seen first hand by spending a day in the hood. Next week, do a little driving around in the poorest neighborhood you can find. It won't take long to figure it out.

Our Senate has just moved even more hard working citizens into the cradle to grave security lifestyle. Whats more important, they have taken initiative away from more Americans.

What is the point of working hard? Security or opportunity? We just got stuck with security.

Kevin,

We are definitely headed in the wrong direction for sure. Maybe the Tea Party movement will continue to burn brightly and get us some newly elected congressmen and senators next year.

Kevin - I've already lived through where we are headed and it ain't pretty my friend. It kills innovation and excellence and encourages the poor to stay that way. The morons on the left just won the "how gullible are you?" quiz show.

Kevin,  It is hard to believe how many of our lawmakers are selling us down the river.  I can't believe they are not aware of where this is headed.

Kevin,

Socialism is not a clearly defined term. We have a lot of features characteristic of socialist, and some countries in Europe have even more of those. We do not have pure capitalism, and we do not have pure Socialism.

But the fact that the trend in the direction of more socialism is obvious. This is a dangerous move, and looking towards a father-like governemtn it not a good idea

Oh yea...pretty obvious isn't it?

Each day we see more and more of our freedoms, individual freedoms being handed to the State. They "think' they know better how to run our lives. NOT

But, I have a great faith and hope in the American People to turn this around. We just need new officials in Washington, and from both political parties.

Kevin - I believe we have passed socialism and are now communists. Government takeover of over 60% of the private sector pretty much seals it.

At some point this bubble of security is going to burst.  Medicare is already broke and will be completely insolvent in just 6 short years.  If things keep heading where they are, these people that want security are going to be very disappointed.  All we need is the Chinese to stop buying our debt and the party will be over.

I found out something interesting when I went to my doctor this week. Medicare does not pay for annual physicals.  Did you know that?  Medicare is government run.  What does that tell you?

Additionally, even if I have a secondary insurance - if Medicare denies a charge the secondary insurance will not cover it. The only way around that is not to retire and keep working so you have health care under your employers insurance.  Until the government takes that away.

Socialism plain sucks. It is the antithesis of what America is about. We used to have people from other countries who came here to work hard and share the dream. These days it seems like the dream has changed to being able to live for free. I started really getting down when Bush bailed out Wall Street and all the banks that bilked the American people out of billions. Now, socialized medicine is another brick on my back. The bastards are grinding me down.

2010 is when we can start to take some of these socialist ideas/laws off the books. We need leaders with some backbone though.
