Becoming Friends with Your Clients - a Good thing of Not-So-Good

As a home stager, like realtors I can spend a lot of time with some clients and not so long with others. When I get repeat business such as doing a move-in for the client or some decorating once they have moved, we get to know each other better. It's a nice feeling to receive an invitation to a client's home for a drink of coffee/tea or wine.

I always  see this as a good thing but I know some stagers/realtors are leary of this because they think their 'new best-friend client' might expect some discounts because of the friendship. I admit sometimes I do give a little extra to those clients.

I would be curious what others have experienced by developing friendships with clients.
