Old English Sheepdogs are the Best! Everyone has their favorite breed, but I have never met a person that has not smiled at a "Sheepie".
They have an abosoutely loving, clownish personality; they are affectionate and do not know their own size.
Recently we adopted Rockey from the Old English Rescue of Florida. I first contacted the lady that adopts the dogs, Candice, from Pet Finders. We started our search this past winter before our move to Florida.
At the time, Candy had about four dogs and told us about one that she thought would work for us. We were not settled in time to get that particular dog and ironically, ran into the Sheepie and his human outside of the convenience store in Naples.
I contacted Candy again and she had seven Sheep Dogs. We went to visit her home in Cooper City, FL and fell in love with all of the dogs. It was hard to pick, but we decided on Rockey. He was 18 months old at the time and a big love, recovering from a punctured lung and blunt trauma to his paw from being hit by a car, his owners surrendered him to a vet. Upon his partial recovery he was turned over to the rescue.
Rockey is our third Old English Sheepdog. He is so sweet and friendly, loving and kind, he must know that he was given a second chance and he is very grateful for it. I would recommend to everyone Pet Adoption, giving a pet a second chance and a great home, you will not regret it.
