Military relocation to Maryland

Active duty military personnel buying a home in Maryland are NOT taken for granted by Capitol Title, with offices in Annapolis Crofton, Dunkirk, Ellicott City, Ocean City, Rockville, Severna Park, and Suitland.

Inspired by Joe Long's blog that I read earlier this morning, about an article he saw at a title company, I looked around the reception area this morning before a settlement and found a flier about the company's "FREEdom" Program.  I'm so proud to do business with a company that has a policy like this, I just have to share:

In recognition of the hardships experienced by today's brave young troops and their families, Capitol Title waives all of their settlement fees to active duty military.  This includes fees for title exam, doc prep and conducting settlement.

Home prices in MarylandIf you've ever seen my ads on MilitaryAvenue.com, and clicked through on the Military Reward, you'll see that I provide up to $1000 credit at settlement for warranty and closing costs for active duty military.  (My husband is retired military, so I appreciate the sacrifices of military families, as well as the service members themselves.)  I'm proud to support Fisher House at Andrews AFB and Operation Christmas Stocking, providing holiday gift bags to deployed troops.

Whether you're deployed or stationed stateside at Ft. Meade, Andrews AFB, the Pentagon, NSA, or USNA... I can help you find and buy a home using your VA benefits, and Capitol Title will join me in thanking you for your service by saving you money at settlement.

Good for you Margaret.  This title company is saving the buyer from $200-$500 depending on what their fees are.  Every little bit helps.

Hello Margaret,
Now this is what I call good news and putting your $$ where your mouth is!    I work with military families (mostly Marine & Navy) and that would be awesome.  Thank you for letting us know.  You have inspired me to check into this and see if there are any companies in NC that do this.

Lenn - thanks for doing those calculations!  It depends somewhat on the sale price, but that's a very good guideline.

Cynthia - I think this is something that some companies would be willing to do, if only they thought about it... that's where we come in - we can propose it to them, and now we can cite Capitol Title's example.

Gary  and Bruce - Thanks for your comments, I hope some service people see this on Localism.com, and choose to work with companies who do recognize their service.

Margaret, This is a wonderful plan for our service people! Lots of folks think our military have it made, truth is they really don't have it as well as they did when my father was active duty. Thank you!

Thanks, Lysa - You're right, a lot of military benefits enjoyed by servicepeople in the past have gone the way of the dial telephone...  'Guess is one reason the community is needed to step in!

Dale and Maura - Thanks for your comments (and thank you, Dale, for your service).  I figure that a referral fee to another agent costs me that much or more, so why not recognize our nation's service people, when they're sacrificing so much.  Primarily, I wanted to get the word out to local agents and consumers about Capitol Title's program, and maybe encourage some other folks around the country to consider something similar.

Bob, I know Capitol Title would be happy to hear from you!  I think Sara Demb may be in that office... be sure to ask for her.  I've worked with Capitol Title often, over the course of about 20-25 years, and they're always on time (unless lender pachages are late), they have very professional offices, and their attorneys are awesome when you need a little help with a tough case.  I can't recommend them highly enough.

OK - That is really cool that they are stepping up to help those who give us the right to even own a home.

Todd - How on earth did you find this old old post?  I'm glad you did, though, because it's information worth bringing back to the top.  I sure hope some eligible consumers find it on Localism!
