Hi Russel:

I would have loved to has seen those recipes!

There's nothing like cooking and baking that comes from a Grandma's kitchen!

Russel - isn't that the truth. Hey, my family used to make cinnamon rolls too! I have the recipe. I also last time when visiting my grandma in Finland had her show me how to work the looms as weaving has been a tradition in our family. I wrote it all down - it's complicated to set up! ~Rita

That's awesome, Russel - thanks for the reminder. We are celebrating Christmas today with my family so I will make sure this is in the forefront of mind - right after we look at the pictures from Karaoke last night (oh my, what was I thinking!)!

And thanks too for the holiday wishes - I hope you had a great one as well.

How sad you don't have the recipes.  I would have thought that she would have had them written somewhere.  My grandmother had her recipes written down and I have several of those tucked away in my recipe file.  I love seeing her handwritten recipes when I go through my collection.

Hi Russel,  It's sad to lose those things.  Thanks for the reminder to write it down, and to have those memories and recipes to pass down to future generations!

Russel....My sisiters, 6 of them, have my mom's recipes. But, my oldest sister, Betty, got all the recipes together for her grandchildren. Her husband made a great recipe book.  He will be adding my recipes to the cookbook as well.  You are so right...get the recipes now.

Russel:  I just gave my step daughter my own recipe for Mac and Cheese and I also made her some and put the recipe on the top with a christmas sticker!!!!   Sometimes the best presents are the ones that can be passed on!

Very good advise.  My first marriage ended 9 years ago and my ex cannot seem to find the time to get those videos of my dad to me.

Russel, it's so sad the things we "lose" when our elder relatives pass away. My 100 year old aunt passed away this year and already I'm missing things that I know we didn't get from her!

I did learn how to make Chicken and Noodles from my Grandmother but I sure wish I had worked on the pie crust also.

Hi Russel: Great advice.  I never remember the camera and as such - never take enough pictures.

Hey, Folks.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I have read all the comments, but since this post is rather old, rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those below. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!

Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too!

If you need a great cat book, get yourself a copy of Peg Silloway's The Cat Lover's Book of Days.

Hope all is well with everyone.
