Back in May, I received the coveted ePro designation.  So what's an ePro you ask?

An e-PRO is a REALTOR® who has successfully completed the e-PRO training program for real estate professionals. Endorsed by the National Association of REALTORS®, the e-PRO course teaches professionals the nuts and bolts of working with real estate on-line: Web sites, e-mail, on-line tools, and most of all, what today's consumer really wants.

So what does this mean to you?  It means I am one of only 1% of all REALTORS® who have this designation who know how to save you time and money by helping you research online the properties you are interested in.  I keep and respect your privacy, respond to emails quickly with the information you need, and offer online virtual tours, sellers' disclosures, property appraisals, building materials' quality so you "know" the homes you are looking at without having ever driven to them.

I have had people research homes with me on a Thursday and make an offer on a Saturday because they had all the information they needed and questions had already been answered.

This is a tremendous advantage especially if you are a long ways away from our area and don't want to make multiple trips.

Please visit me on the web at http://www.letrobdoit.com/ and be sure to bookmark my site so you can stay in touch.  You can see what other Lawrence Kansas real estate or Eudora Kansas real estate is selling for and get an idea of what your home is worth to buyers.  Whether you want to buy a home or sell a home, LetRobDoIt.com.  If you are located outside my service area, please let me refer you to another ePro real estate executive that has graduate level coursework like me who can best meet your needs.

Thanks and "Don't keep me a secret--I'm never too busy for your referrals!"

Rob,

It's about time someone for Realty Executives in Lawrence joined AR. I've been bugging Bryan to get you all involved to no end. I see that he finally sent out an e-mail to all agents. Good to see you here. It's a great network!

Rob...

First WELCOME TO AR.

But second... help me to understand something. (As I am more like a consumer than a realtor when it comes to the E-Prop designation.)

What keeps a NON trained agent from knowing and being able to provide all the things an E-Pro agent provides.  ESPECIALLY in this age when so many are not becoming tech savvy and technology is becoming easier (in some ways).

I am not trying to be "flip" I really would like to know.

Let me answer for Rob if I may.

Nothing keeps "a NON trained agent from knowing and being able to provide all the things an E-Pro agent provides."

However most of our fellow Realtors (often the older ones like me) are not as comfortable with technology as younger Realtors and a sigificant number are not as knowledgable.

You have to admire and applaud people like Rob who make the effort to learn new things to better serve their clients.

I don't think anyone could deny that the buyers Rob mentioned above were better served by him because of the knowledge he gained becoming an e-PRO.

e-PRO has long been near and dear to my heart because I've seen first hand the level of technological competence most Realtors who have been in the business 10 years or more and new Realtors who may have retired from another career may lack.

I see myself as fairly tech savvy and an early adapter but I still gained valuable knowledge from taking the e-PRO course.

In fact I've taken both e-PRO courses. There was an early course that went bankrupt early on before the current providers took over for NAR. I learned something from each one.

 Congratulations Rob, good for you.

Hi Craig and Others Who Are Not Yet ePros,

I guess I would have to disagree with Jim just a little bit in that I believe there are things learned from being an ePro grad, even though I could have taught and written the course itself.  But everything else Jim said is right on and I thank him for his involvement in training in the ePro course.

The secret is in the eProTalk groups that you can subscribe to as a graduate that continue to bring the latest and best in technology to your inbox every day.  I would have to scour thousands of websites to glean what I receive from a single day's worth of eProTalk posts.  It is simply a matter of time management.  The ePro course itself has tremendous value to a realtor that wants to learn real estate technology.

I'm glad you really want to know Craig, since as tech savvy as you are, I'm sure you realize that improvements are made daily to digital cameras, visual tours, pc tablets, portable printers, new software releases, etc.  eProTalk gives ePro realtors the opportunity to glean from others' experiences (good and bad), mistakes, accomplishments, and the opportunity to help someone else out with questions who have had first hand experience with the latest advances.  Someone posted some problems with a particular product which saved me several hundred dollars since I was going to invest in it.  That in itself paid for the course and allowed me to put my commission dollars to work elsewhere.  Craig, as a consumer, if you are like me, there is nothing worse than knowing more about the product or the industry than the customer service person representing the product.  Real estate consumers are getting more and more aware of the real estate industry, are selling their homes FSBO, are writing their own contracts, are marketing on their own websites, etc.  If I don't keep up on the latest in technology and methods of marketing FSBO's (tips also included on eProTalk), they have no need of me as a realtor.  County appraisals are online now so with buyers, you have to have something to offer them as well beyond what they know about is available.

The reason I say secret is because ePro doesn't market enough on the extreme value of this after the course network.  It has much the same value as the ActiveRain network but on a much more technological side.  I don't campaign for other realtors in Douglas County KS to take the ePro course or I could lose my competitive edge in providing better service to my clients by being an eProTalk beneficiary in this area.  (Hopefully, none of them will be reading this post.) :)  Good luck to you Craig and I hope to see your post sometime on eProTalk!
