I am in the midst of finalizing my plans for 2010 and thought it would be appropriate to share my thought process. Some people use obstacles as an excuse for failure or poor performance while others use it to grow - which are you? My favorite saying of late is by Emily Dickinson, "I dwell in possibilities". I have embraced this philosophy this year and have opened my mind to new possibilities both in aligning with a new brokerage as well as in embracing new possibilities in my real estate career. I invite you to do the same and see where the "possibilities" take you!
Here are some of the activities that will help you achieve success in 2010.
Clarify your WHY for being in real estate. What is the big WHY that you are in real estate - this WHY has to be bigger than "making money", When you take the time to identify your why, then the how to make the why possible will present itself.
Ask yourself the following questions - (take some time when you have silence and can really focus on these questions). Write your answers down on a piece of paper you can look back on.
What are my beliefs about myself and my business? Do I believe I can achieve my goals? Do I feel that I am worthy?
What do I need to do today to have more appointments on my calendar?
How can I meet more people every day?
What do I need to do to meet the right people who need my services?
How can I empower other people to achieve their dreams? One of my favorite quotes by Zig Ziglar is "If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want."
What would financial peace mean to you?
How would you spend your time if you didnt have to worry about money?
Do I have scarcity thinking or abundance thinking?
Commit to doing the RIGHT activity EVERY day. Failure will occur when you do not partake in income producing activity every day -that I know with certainty. You may not see fruition today from your actions but rest assured you are setting yourself up for success in the future. Do the rights things every day and have the faith that you will see positive results. For real estate agents, the single most important activity is LEAD GENERATION.
Commit to never ending self improvement and growth - I do this daily but at least weekly, listen to motivation speakers on your computer while working or on a CD in your car, network with other like minded people, read a self improvement book, attend a conference. Through self improvement, you will become the person you need to be to fullfill all of your dreams.
Our business is made of hills and valleys and when we are in a valley, the hill ahead can look awefully large. At that time, fear and doubt can enter and steal our dreams. During these times, go back to your WHY and review the reason you are doing what you do. Recommit to your WHY. Make sure your beliefs are in alignment with your goals. Have th courage during these times to believe you are worthy of achieving success. As Walt Disney said, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."
I wish you a wonderful New Year!
