If You Don't Like the Weather in Massachusetts - Just Wait a Day

By

Clock in Christmas TreeThe weather in Massachusetts certainly has pulled some surprises on us lately.

Yesterday morning I left to show several properties bundled up in boots and a winter coat. By the time I returned from the day I had to shed most of it as during the drive home I rolled down the window and watched the now melt.

I am not complaining - far from it.  It is a wonderful treat to see my front lawn again.

Since the homes I was showing yesterday were new construction, it was important to be prepared for the elements. However, my expectation of wading in a snowy slush driveway and shivering inside of a structure that was completely devoid of any heat did not bear out - much to my happiness.

Some home buyers are not prepared for the process of looking at new construction but my clients yesterday were veterans.  In fact, they had bought a new home in the past so they already knew what to expect.  The houses we saw were framed and enclosed but no finish work had been started.

Buying new construction takes a certain amount of vision.  You have to be able to imagine just what the final product is going to look like.  The lack of cabinets, appliances, flooring and walls can challenge a person who has not ventured into this arena before.  But the end result is always worth the trouble.  A home with your own tastes, choices and final say on every decorating option can be rewarding, to say the least.

At the end of the day, most of the snow had disappeared and the temperature was in the 50's.  And, today is feeling like much of the same.  But I won't be getting too comfortable just yet since tomorrow promises the return of the winter chill.

And, so goes the weather in Massachusetts during this lovely holiday week.

Claudette, I know what you mean I grew up in the area that you cover and the saying I remember was "wait an hour and it will change". LOL :))

Valorie:

This is interesting. You were raised in Massachusetts and are now in California.  I spent many years in San Francisco and am back here where I started.  Both are great places in live in.

I'm very afraid of the cold. I always over-dressed, bundled up in layers just in case. You're right that sometimes I should mention it to my clients. We do get cold here with our windchills.

I take it that you are not a skier.  I used to ski when I lived in California and did a bit when I first moved back here but the cold in New England can be brutal on the ski slopes.  However, there are few sights more stunning than a snow covered mountain and there is a lot of beauty here in the winter.

You need to bundle up when you have your cold spells in Texas - you are probably not accustomed to those low temperatures.
