A perfect July day for kayaking Linekin Bay in East Boothbay Maine.

While on a 4th of July camping trip to Boothbay Harbor Maine, we decided to do some kayaking.

Jay and I set out at about 10:30 in the morning with a goal of reaching Ocean Point and then paddling back to our put in at the Murray Hill boat launch in East Boothbay.

High tide was at 1:31 pm and we knew we'd be able to get in a few hours of easy paddling.

Neither one of us had dipped our paddle in water since last summer!  I think we're classic fair weather paddlers.

Monika, beautiful pictures! My husband and I kayak and love it! It's hard to explain to people how peaceful it is out on the water with no sound but the birds and nature. We really enjoy nature and the time we spend together out on the water. Thanks for reminding me!

Thank you Linda. It is hard to explain how peaceful it really is. All I need is 6 inches of water under me and I'm good to go. We just love it.

Monika, I have never kayaked but this sounds like something I would enjoy doing.  After all if Jay can do it then I should be able to do also........LOL

Hey Monika - beautiful pictures and loved the show, too.  I've never tried kayaking, but it seems a little scary to me because those seem so tippy.  I did try canoing, and enjoyed that.

Nice pics - bet you guys had a very nice vacation up there!

Monika, I am so jealous of you and Jay.  OK, ok, it's more like admiration.  That is one awesome way to spend your time.  And your show was wonderful!  That house on the shore was stunning!

Monika.....  I have never been kayaking before. But the pictures were gorgeous. And yes, that one picture with the water looked like glass. And me?  I wore my Boston Red Sox hat all week.  ;o)

I am really looking forward to our trip to the Bay of Fundy and Bar Harbor at the end of the month. More kayaking and lots of fun.

George it's not easy but once you get the hang of it, it will be fun. Kayaks can go where motor boats can't. You are never to old to learn new things.

Ann...Someday you'll need to try it. Maybe in a calm lake to begin with. The ocean changes in an instant and even though Jay and I are fully equipped I still like to hug the coast line.

Maggie,

Thank you so much. It was an awesome day on the water.  You are very intimate with nature when in a kayak, we've paddled a few feet from Sea Lions and Porpoises.

wow...I hadn't even grasped the possibility of doing that.  Of course with a motor boat, no matter how small, it would be impossible to do that.  It sounds even more impressive now.

One time I had "something" bump the underside of my kayak. I felt a gentle lift but never saw what it was...LOL..freaked me out a bit.

Ines...Thanks so much! I bet you kayak in a sit on top...I want one of them to beat around in some of our pretty lakes. When we were in Florida we rented a sit on top...they were cheap ones and I had a hard time maneuvering around in it. It was wicket wide!!!  My friend has a nice sit on top and he loves it!

How long was that trip?  It looks like many miles.

I love your "Take a Tour" button!

Years ago I had an "experience" and vowed never to get in a boat without a motor.  Thank you for providing the map, photos and tour so I don't have to do that.  Virtual Kayaking, LOL.

Chris, it was probably 7-8 miles round trip. The return leg is much quicker. Rolling in with the wind and tide makes for a fun ride. One must be careful in rolling seas as it can be a little nerve racking.

Thanks Joan. Have you ever tried kayaking? With so many lakes in NH there is plenty of opportunity.

Mariana....No water! I don't think I could survive!

Chris...Jay did the map and made me that cute button.  I understand, once you have a bad experience it's hard to put it aside. I'm glad you enjoyed the VT!

Jay...It sure seemed like a longer kayak trip!

Hi guys,

The tour was great but leaves me wanting for a kayak of my own. Perhaps we can get one before BarHarbor or at least by next summer. You know what they say "there's nothing like the real thing baby". Beautiful pictures.

Nope...not a one!

I think they were too busy hosting that summit down in Kennebunkport. We were about an hour north of Kennebunkport.
