When I write an article for The Real Estate Sizzle, I don't really think about who might read it.  I just write about things that someone living in Tampa, or moving locally, or Internationally would like to know about.  Sometimes I talk about things that help someone recognize me, or identify with me.  I scour my site meter every day to find out where my readers are, but I don't really know WHO they are, unless they write to me.

Last week, a writer from the Wall Street Journal emailed me and told me she liked my blog.  She said it was "fun"...WOW. How cool is that?  I had just pulled some news from the WSJ and incorporated it into an article...what a coincidence.

Last month, I wrote about my "Bus Bench". I was the first agent in town to use bus bench advertising and, over the years, it has gotten me much recognition and some funny stories, which I shared in the article.

Today, I received an email with the following comment: "I love the "Face on a Bus Bench Article". I love it so much, I'm writing to respectfully ask your permission to re-print the article on behalf of our  Company. Our inventory includes 1,300 Bus Bench displays and 230 Transit Shelter Displays in the greater Oklahoma City area. We'd love to share your humorous story to future prospects."  Of course, I said....I'd be honored.

So, I've decided to get proactive with this blog thing and REALLY get the word out.  Next week, I am going to a political event.  The guests include Florida Governor Charlie Crist and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others.  Since I write so much about the Tax Reform issue, and am determined to help solve the big property tax mess,  I am going to slip my card into their pockets and ask them to please read my blog and leave me a comment! What have I got to lose? The "governor" reading my blog?

I'll let you know how that goes...

I have a site meter and I also use Google analytics, so I know HOW MANY and the referral sources, but unless someone leaves a comment, I have no idea WHO they are. And, so I wonder, WHO are these thousands of people who keep coming back...So, when I hear from someone at the WSJ, I'm like a little kid on Christmas morning...it's so exciting!

Jackie it's amazing to me that you get such fantastic traffic. I'm truly in awe. I get 20 hits or so on a typical day, 40 when it seems like my blog's onfire.  Readers often stay 2-3 minutes but this week it's 4.5 minutes. I don't know who they are either but I guess they like what I'm writing enough to keep reading. You're way, way ahead of the curve with your traffic and analysis. Keep up the fantastic work!!

Thanks Mary...I overanalyze it all, I think.  I really wish there was a way to find out WHO...beyond an IP address....and sometimes that does tell me who they are, as I look up the IP address.  I get the highest readership on the days when I talk about Tax Reform, or any other important issue for property owners, so I try to write as much as possible about that and I'm often ahead of the media, for some reason. Last week I wrote about the Supreme Court decision to eliminate "race" as a consideration for pupil assignment in school districts.  I thought it was HUGE and has a trickle down effect on housing because of how the school stats will change in various neighborhoods...the national media wrote about it yesterday with respect to the democrats who are outraged by it...where are the reporters, I say....they are a little too concerned about "fluff" like Paris Hilton or Lindsey Lohan's rehab...the national and local news are becoming People magazine instead of a source for important issues. Pick up a European newspaper and it's a different story. I won't be a part of the continual "dumbing down" that is  happening in this country.

Tampa is a big city compared to many others...we have the 8th largest school district in the US...so I will be really happy when my readership is consistenly 200 each day...right now I'm 90-150, depending on the day. Jim says that is amazing for a new blog. I have no idea what is "good", so I have to just track my own growth.   Tuesdays  Wednesdays  and Thursdays are my highest...usually, so I try to post something really interesting on Mondays and Fridays, to give it a boost...
