Traveling To (and from) Canada? Do You Have Proper Identification?

My husband and his brothers are planning a jaunt to Montreal to attend a hockey game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Pittsburgh Penguins in February 2010.

As of June 1, 2009 everyone arriving in Canada by air, land and sea has needed a passport or an equivalent travel document. What would an equivalent travel document be you ask?

Here are the valid Passport substitutes:

• NEXUS Card is a valid passport substitute. (between Canada and the U.S.)
• United States Passport Card (not valid for international air travel)
• Enhanced Driver's License/EDL (not valid for international air travel & only avaiable in certain states)
• FAST/Expres Card (for commercial truck drivers for travel between the U.S. and Canada)
