Mix It Up In 2010 - Plan Your Educational Year Now

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty

Well I did it.  I paid for another year with my local Association of Realtors.  Quite inconvenient at this time of year, I know, but it had to be done sooner or later ( at least before the end of January) and I could not sign up for classes until after paying the piper.  As I told you all last year, our local Association includes a $75 charge forEducation continuing education in our dues which entitles us to take many classes through the board for that low fee.  As I am up for license renewal, I have some hours to put in and I want to have my choice of classes and not be sitting at the computer for 22.5 hours next August to meet the deadline.  So I am closing out my year planning next year's education and finalizing goals for my business for the next 12 months.

Taking classes and meeting with other real estate professionals is not just about CE hours.  It is about the energy that is created when you have to THINK.  I like to mix up my educational experiences.  I take the classes at the local board for my continuing ed credits cause it is easy to keep track of them for the state.  I also plan to attend a few local events such as the Associations Expo in the spring.  Then I have signed up for RainCamp NYC on January 12th to kick off the new year with a burst of energy.  I will add some other events and my local Womens Council of Realtors meetings to the mix.  But I find the best source of information and energy comes right here from my daily dose of ActiveRain.  Just as writing Blogs and commenting on the posts of others here in the Rain gives me so much information.

So as you complete next year's plan to include mixing it up in 2010.  Include time for cruising the blogs for information and a few laughs.  Get out of that office and share with others in the physical world too by participating in classes and events.  The reward will be the energy you need to keep working towards all of your business goals.

Paddy, I agree with you that there are many benefits to taking classes and networking with other realtors. I am with you all the way on the benefits of reading AR posts and participating by commenting and writting posts. I have learned so much this year from AR posts and have even found a lender I can trust because I got to know him through his posts-and then there is the priceless chuckles and warm feelings as I connect with people across the US

Let me help you with the next phase of your life!

Paddy ~ I cracks me up every year the amount of people rushing at the last minute to get their CE classes done.  I get mine done as soon as they are offered, for a couple of reasons.  1.  I don't like waiting til the last minute for anything and I don't have to worry about it all year.  2.  I get the knowledge and use of the information and or changes for the rest of the year while other agents that wait don't have a clue whats new.        3.  Our local college holds these classes early and its less money than these outfits that make a ton of money on the last minute folks.  4.  If I am rushed to do something I am aggravated and will not learn as much as I could have.   OK... off my soap box... lol

I am up there with you.  I was just saying almost the same thing this morning.  To sit at a computer for 20 plus hours and complete some testing is not my idea of fun nor is it likely to teach you anything.  You have it right June.  Happy New Year!

Paddy,

I think it makes good sense to plan this  out. No one wants to be doing online couses about flower arranging for open houses within the day or two prior to renewal.

They have a CE class in flower arraigning??? Now that might be fun, LOL.  I know what you mean Brian. Choices are definitely not there when we wait until the last minute. Happy New Year
