The Tortoise Wins The Race Again

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

There is this terrific quotation I ran across:

"We must go slowly, there's not much time."

Especially as we enter a new year, it relates to that time is short thought. It is too short to put off our happiness just because we have NOT ACHIEVED our goals yet. As you work toward a dream, it is not all about the destination, but the journey is equally important.

Life is a series of moments. Do not put off your happiness even one more day. Think slow, as the frenetic pace of life wants to drag you quickly forward towards all you pursue.

Once again the tortoise wins the race. Be happy this moment.

Hi Gary... You need to compile these in a book.  Enjoying the journey is what life is all about.

Sad to see Steve and think that his life was cut so short.  The oddest thing was that as I started to scroll down to the photo I thought it was John Denver.  Another good one we lost too soon.

Let's be thankful that we are here to celebrate the beginning of a new year of opportunities.

I love that the Tortoise wins the race every time. Slow and steady wins the race. I hear this when I was young. But in my teen and twenties, I've really been the rabbit, but I'm slowing down to adapt to my new tortoise ways of life. It's not bad if you are slow. You actually get to enjoy the journey and the view along the way. I think that's what it's all about. It's not so much the arriving.

We do miss a lot when we go racing thru life.  Thank you for the reminder to slow down and smell the roses as we move thru the New Year.

Gary..life seems to go faster and more frantic each passing year. Not sure if it's the technology that was supposed to slow things down or just getting older?? Great Advice..

Gary:  I am watching my husband undertake his new hobby of building a model train set.  He wants it done now and is working at a crazy pace to get it done as fast as possible.  He looked up last night and said, "I don't think this is the hobby for me."  If all he wants is the finished product and can't enjoy the process, I'd say he's right.

Gary,

How did 2010 get here so fast if the tortoise is winning the race? Crikey! (I loved watching Steve Irwin).

Seriously, I just can not believe how quickly time passes! It is extremely important to savor the special moments because they are fleeting.

Happy New Year!

Judy

The more time you spend in the moment, the more time you will think you have.  It really does go by slower if you are in the present as opposed to worrying about the future and racing to get it over with.

Sometimes we are so wrapped up in the goal or the search of the goal that we forget to be happy in the moment.  I've enjoyed your writing this year and wish you a prosperous & 'thoughtful' 2010.  May your goals & dreams come true!

It really is up to each of us to choose to be happy -- regardless of what is happening around us. You and so many others here on AR have certainly made that shift in thinking a bit easier. Thanks.

Getting backwards here, but you know me...I love that shot of Steve and his wife.  It makes all the difference with the tortoise.  I am visualizing my goals more and more.  It helps to make steps to get there clearer...as an old love once put it, You must chew the elephant one bite at a time.
