Youth summer program Beginning Monday, July 9 - Bordentown City, the Bordentown Good Neighbor Guild and Bordentown corporations, clubs and lodges are sponsoring the Bordentown Youth Summer Program from Monday, July 9, to Friday, Aug. 3.
The program is geared toward youth ages 12 to 17 and is free. CPR/First Aid training and gang awareness instruction will be provided. Each day will begin with a free lunch at noon at the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Bordentown. Activities will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. and athletics will start at 6 p.m. at participating locations.
The sponsors of the program are asking for support by way of supplies and volunteers. Any person who would like to volunteer is asked to call as soon as possible.

Art show Friday, July 13, to Friday, Aug. 31 - The Artful Deposit Gallery will be displaying the art of Michael Budden, show title "Seasons Along the Delaware River." The public is invited to attend the opening reception on Friday, July 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Honoree celebration
and roast dinner Saturday, July 14 - A roast dinner and celebration honoring members of the Bordentown area who have a long family history and/or many years of dedicated service to the community will take place at the Scottish Rite facility, located at 103 Dunns Mill Road in Bordentown Township. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the grande buffet opens at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $35 and are limited.

Golf tournament Monday, July 16 - The Bordentown Rotary will hold its annual golf tournament at Olde York Country Club. There will be prizes awarded for a hole in one, long drive and closest to the pin.
A continental breakfast will be served, as well as a luncheon and awards ceremony at close. The fee is $170 per person, and checks may be made payable to Bordentown Rotary. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the start time is 10 a.m.
Hole sponsors are needed to fund area youth projects. Last year, the rotary funded the construction of two new dugouts at Gilder Park. This year, they are funding the renovation of four Bordentown softball fields. For $100, you may be a hole sponsor, and your business name will be placed on tee boxes. For $150, you may be a Cigar Rolling Sponsor.

Block party Saturday, July 21 - The second annual Wellington Woods Block Party for residents of the Wellington Woods Neighborhood in Bordentown Township will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Admission costs $7 and is due by Friday, June 15. Each family is asked to bring a dish to share. A quoit tournament and other games and activities will be available for all.

Nicotine Anonymous Fridays - Nicotine Anonymous meetings are held Fridays at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton in the second floor library from 7 to 8 p.m. The hospital is located on Hamilton Square Road in Hamilton.
The meeting is open to anyone who has the desire to stop using nicotine. You need not have quit to attend. There are no dues or fees.

Parents Anonymous Tuesdays - Parents Anonymous meets every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Family Support Organization of Burlington County, 774 Eayrestown Road, Lumberton. The group aims to help parents cope with stress and learn alternative methods of discipline. It is led by volunteer professionals and parent leaders from the community.

Board of
education meetings The Bordentown Regional School District Board of Education has changed the location of all meetings. They are now held in the new high school library, 318 Ward Avenue, Bordentown Township.
The executive sessions begin at 7:30 p.m. and are closed to the public. The public sessions being at 8 p.m.
Cat volunteers needed Bordentown City Cats, a cat rescue group in Bordentown, is looking for volunteers to feed, trap, provide transportation to and from vet appointments, or be available once a month for cleanup at the adoption center at an area PetSmart store.
In addition, the group is looking for caring people to foster friendly cats and kittens until they are ready to be put up for adoption.

Volunteers needed The Mansfield Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers for a domestic violence response team. The team members will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information and referral at the time of a domestic violence crisis.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver's license, be willing to serve a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month, and submit to background investigations, including fingerprinting. A 40-hour mandatory intensive training course, to be held over an eight-week period during evening and weekend hours is required and will be provided to successful applicants. An understanding of domestic violence issues is a plus, as is a bilingual capacity.

Volunteers needed Volunteers are needed to join the River's Edge Domestic Violence Response Team. Participants will be called or paged by police to speak with a victim of domestic violence and provide them with options. Volunteers will receive 40 hours of initial training provided by Providence House of Burlington County.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and a resident of Florence, Burlington Township or Burlington City, and must have a valid N.J. drivers license, available transportation and no criminal history. They must be available for a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month.
