Fort Myers BeachNearly every day there's a sunset to be seen on the gulf coast of Florida.  This sunset is from Fort Myers Beach, Florida, just a few miles north of Bonita Beach.

Like many other people that live in an area with a tourist attraction, natural landmark or state park, I, too have taken our gulf beaches for granted.  I work here and rarely MAKE the opportunity to enjoy what so many people travel half way around the world to see.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit Fort Myers Beach with friends.  A group called One Love was playing at the Tiki at the Holiday Inn.  They're absolutely fabulous!  Check them out Sunday nights 6-8 p.m.

The Holiday Inn is a great place to people watch, too.  It is one of the original hotels built on the Island and it is situated on the widest, white sand beach in the area.  It's a definite must see and must kite.  Pick up a couple of those cheapy kites.  You don't have to fly them, just give them to a couple of kids at the beach and watch the show.  It's hilarious.  The wind is remarkable and great for kites!

The hotel Tiki Bar is located on the beach side of the hotel.  They offer a full menu and bar.  Of course, casual attire is expected.  There is a large pool are for the kids, too.

Ft.Myers Beach is a throw back to the 50`s... We love going there for a long weekend. In fact, we`ll beheading up that way in three weeks to do our wave running on the gulf!

You`re so lucky to live that way!

Chris.....  my brother-in-law were just talking about this on the way back from the shore today. That we live an hour away need to take advantage of it more often. But for so many of you in and around the area even closer, that you overlook it. And that is a beautiful sunset.

Jeff, I asked a man that worked at the Grand Canyon about being blind to the natural wonder.  He said it took about two months.  He doesn't even see it anymore.

Chris,

What a beautiful sunset.  Thank you for sharing - I agree that it is sometimes easy to take where you live for granted.

I guess sunsets are so much easier to watch than sunrises.....LUCKY!!  You would have to wake up at 5:00 AM here and rush over to the beach (I have done it...but not many times).  Rick on the other hand loves to fish and has great sunrise photos.

Ines, I guess Rick is on sunrise detail~!

Mariana, thanx for stopping by.

Jay, I went to dinner on FMB last night and drove right by the Riviera.  They're building more golf course, by the way.
