Quick and Chilly .... The 34th annual Polar Bear swim at Elk Lake is happening today - January 1, 2010. The dippers/swimmers/divers/pushers-in/toe testers, dash into the north end of Elk Lake in Victoria, BC and usually there are about 600 people taking part!
At least the weather is a mild 9 degrees Celcius today, unlike last year's snowy wintery weather.
Hi Pat - yes, completely crazy and I'm always amazed at the number of people who just run right in and swim!

Yes, we watch the swim every New Year's Day. This year people went in the lake in their pj's and housecoats and slippers!!!!! As they say in England "they're all Bonkers" (and it's not a rude word!).
