STAGING CHALLENGE: TACKLING A TEENAGER'S BEDROOM

A homeowner contacted Whitehall Interiors & Home Staging, requesting a consultation in advance of putting her home on the market.  Upon arriving at her home, I toured the house with the homeowner as I always do when conducting a client consult.  Each room left me more in awe than the last...rather than seeing the typical clutter, crowded rooms, and dated decor, this home was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and remarkably model-like in appearance.  

As we climbed the stairs to the second floor, I began to mentally anticipate informing the homeowner that she didn't need my services -- not by any stretch of the imagination!! Just as I was about to tell her this, she turned to me, standing outside of a closed door, and said, "Brace yourself."  She opened the door and this is what I saw...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Turns out, this was the room occupied by her teenage daughter!!  According to her mother, she was very resistant to making any changes to the room.  Enter the services of Whitehall Interiors & Home Staging...

I made the following recommendations:

Paint the room

Replace the black ceiling fan with a white one

Remove the TV from the wall

Remove the ceiling lanterns

Replace the black window shades

Remove the desk from the alcove

Replace the bed linens

Add bedside tables and lamps

Move the dresser to the alcove

Remove the full length mirror from the wall
