I love Alaska I was there a couple of years ago in the summer.  The winter looks really cold.

Debra...that is beautiful I would live to do that and fish for halibut with my son one day as a special father/son getaway. Will you refer us to reputable people?

Debra:  What gorgeous country.  I know about cold... having been born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.  Lots of winters there as a child where we did not see the ground from November until March.  That never happens now... global warming, ya now, but it still gets pretty cold there.

Beautiful slide show and beautiful snow, as long as it's not in my backyard. LOL

Happy New Year!

Debra,

I stopped the video at 3:11 to try to read the road sign that flashed by, but there is too much snow on it.  I've been in Anchorage and Fairbanks during the winter on business when I worked for the OPEX Corporation as National Sales Manager.  Anchorage was warmer.  Fairbanks was minus 40!  The cold wasn't as bad as being in the Twin Cities during winter, as the air was drier in Alaska, especially in the interior.  No doubt it was very cold, but having no dampness in the air made it more comfortable, IMHO.

Beautiful video!

Hello Debra - I took a solo trip to Alaska in December of 1999.  I wanted to be able to say I've been to the Arctic Circle.  So I flew in, rented a 4x4, got some supplies and drove up the Haul Road to the Arctic Circle on Christmas Day of 1999.

People always ask why I went to Alaska in the winter.  I never could picture Alaska without the snow when growing up.  I had to see it as I'd always imagined it!

It's was beautiful!  Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
