My favorite times of the day occur when I wake up in the middle of the night and the first 30 minutes in the morning before I get out of bed to start my day. Why these 2 times? Because my thoughts are more clear during these times than any other time during the day. In the middle of the night I look back on yesterday and journal my thoughts, actions and feelings. I write down what I'd like to happen during the day that is upon me and all of the things that I am grateful for.
The first 30 minutes before I get out of bed (if I'm not running late); I like to spend that time setting the tone for my day with spiritual reading, writing, reflection and thanksgiving.
Journaling: It's our life on paper and well worth the effort. Write your life one day at a time.
Two-thousand ten (2010) is here already. Where did time go? So much can happen during the course of a year that it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of it all. I don't just mean our world of real estate. That's the easy part to track. After all we are in a business where documentation is required for everything. But what about the other areas of our lives? How well documented is it? You know, things like:
- What are you most grateful for?
- How you felt the moment your children or grandchildren walked into the living room and saw all of the toys and presents under the tree (and the expressions on their faces)
- Did you have any times during the year where you felt like you've come full circle
- If you set personal goals last year, do you recall when you realized that you had achieved each of them and how you felt at that moment?
- What about that vacation with family and friends. Yeah, yeah, yeah that vacation is probably well photographed, but feelings can only be expressed in words
- Don't you just want to be able to replay those feel good moments at just the right times especially when you need a boost?
- Life does not come without losses and sometimes a price to pay. Those can be sad and lonely occasions, but they can spark life changing events that set you on a new course (in loving memory of Warren H. Brown, Jr.). Keep a track of what started it all (good, bad, happy and sad).
- There are so many moments that bring us tears, laughter, pure joy, hope and a bevy of other feelings, emotions and memories to be cherished and passed along
Commit to personal journaling and write your life one day at a time.
