Home Staging Ideas and Tips that Won't Break the Bank

Something that I do many times for my staging clients (as well as my design and decorative painting clients), is to find sofas, chairs, beds...plus dining, coffee, end tables, rugs etc - for very little money on Craigslist.org - and place them in the home.  Many times, the pieces can be placed" as is," or - with a little cleaning, perhaps some paint and elbow grease - be transformed into something truly beautiful.  I've been able to find a mover who is extremely reasonable - so the whole process always turns out to be way less expensive than renting furniture (in the case of a vacant property) or buying brand new pieces - when the existing furniture is less than desirable. Sellers can always take these pieces with them when they move - but many times the buyers love the furniture and they make an offer to keep it.  That seems to happen to me a lot with the homes I stage.

Just today I found a whole kitchen on craigslist.org - from a kitchen design showroom in Beacon NY - for $950.  You have to dismantle and pick it up yourself - but this is a really good deal for anyone sellingor listing a home with an outdated kitchen...especially if you are in or near Westchester County NY.  Here's the link for anyone who may be interested...

This is great information. Thanks for sharing. I actually use Craigslist a bit myself in my business.

Great idea Linda.  I have some clients that have very little extra cash, but could spruce up their home a bit, so we can get it sold.  I'll have them give craigslist a try.
