I've played with Google Maps and kept trying to figure out a great use. Today I figured out one. I'm working with an Army family relocating to the area from Fort Bragg. Today was the day to see if we could find the right place. We needed to find a place with public transportation options nearby due to the husband's work location and schedule.
Of course as we were driving around I was pointing out bus stops, commuter lots, slug lines and metro stations. By the end of the afternoon we had two top contenders but they were very confused about the location in reference to the commuter options. So while they headed back to the hotel to soak it all in I made up this quick little map for them
It isn't elegant but within a few minutes of receiving the map they called and said thank you! We are meeting tomorrow to put together an offer on one of the two finalists. YEA!
PS if you aren't from the DC area Slug Lines are not a place to get beat up. They are a place to grab a free ride into various points in the city. Drivers swing through designated areas and pick up riders so they can hop on the HOV lanes. It is the ultimate in safe hitchhiking.
