Just been thinking about Reblogging on AR and as usual, thinking brings up thoughts. And some questions...
I think I support Reblogging. Heck, I know I do. It is a great way for fellow AR members with subscribers to introduce new members who offer worthy reading. I read reblogs of topics by bloggers I do not know, and I make new blog subscriptions. Great!
And I like being able to reblog worthy stuff. I give the blogger credit in the title, and make a comment that I separate from the reblog with a bold line. I want to see the topic discussed, and I want readers to be able to perceive easily the separation between my thoughts and those of the reblogged blogger.
Compliments for the thoughts should go to the appropriate blogger, either Me for my cogent and insightful comment, or back to the original reblogged blogger for their cogent and insightful blog post.
And, having had my humble dreck reblogged a couple of times, I know how good it feels to have others deem it worthy of spreading around AR for their readers to see.
Bewonderments, in the spirit of overthinking a concept under the influence of excessive caffiene:
Can a reblogger actually be considered a blogger if every new post starts with "Via..."
If a blog is not worthy of comment by the reblogger, is it really worthy of reblogging?
Should there be a limit on reblogs for folks who do not write their own blogs?
Should Reblogs be limited to bloggers who contribute a similar or equivalent volume of original content?
And we just GOTTA talk about the points....
ActiveRain gives 25 points for a reblog. How many reblogs can a member do, for what maximum point total?
Should a reblogger have to write a 50+ word comment on the reblog to get any points at all?
Should serial reblogging be allowed? Serial reblogging being the practice that shows 5 or 6 or 8 "Click,Click,Via..., Comment-free" blogs in the AR blog bar in rapid fire sequence, @ 25 points a pop.
No points are currently offered for comments on a reblog. Should a great discussion be rewarded with points, say after 15 or 20 comments? This might encourage direct reblogging rather than the reblogger merely linking back to the subject post.
Should this all be fun? I hope so!
