Holiday spammers, scammers

Spam peaks during the holidays. To protect yourself, don't click on links within

emails, open unexpected attachments, or call phone numbers included in emails

from financial institutions. If you think you have received a message

by email from your bank or financial institution, go to your telephone and call

the bank by the number listed in the yellow pages.

Sometimes it is so hard to detect when it is spam and not.  I feel that I an very educated about this topic but many times you wonder what the older people or those who don't understand just how it works do to avoid getting had. Thanks for the information.

Even forwarding those emails that threaten "if you don't forward this to 10 people in the next 5 minutes..." include spam programming that can come back to haunt you under a different name, different purpose. And of course the emails that say "include me as one of the 10" are the ones that get most of us! They prey on us!
