Speechless Sundays (almost) - Airboat Ride Special: Frozen Florida Gators and Realtors

By
Real Estate Agent with Oikos Realty, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach Florida

My screen room thermometer says 52* F and I've got the heat on inside. No airboat rides for me today! After all these years in Florida, my Canadian blood has finally thinned out :-) I'm listening to the "WOLF" radio station in Peterborough, Ont., Canada and they say it feels like minus 22* celcius (-8* F) with the wind chill - BRRRR!!! We are "looking forward" to lows in the 30's for the next few days. It's time to get out my warm Canadian coat!

The frozen gator idea cracked me up. My three year old is always saying "pop pop" when he wants an ice pop. The cartoons in my head started inventing different flavors of gator pop (LOL). I keep seeing feisty elderly  people arguing over wether they should make the gator pop or the croc pop first. Yup. It's true. I have issues and am very easily amused (LOL). ;-)

John-I here you!  We woke up to temps in the low 40's and bundled up for our morning walk.  We could tell those from the north. . . they were still in shorts!!

LOL John!  We had our Canadian coats on in Florida (Naples) this year too! When we left it was in the 40's though, we know it would be getting warmer later. One thing though the sun is usually always out here and that just makes ya feel warmer!  Enjoy your soup!

John, I laugh now when we have cooler weather...the natives like me, who has been here fifteen years from Toronto, bundled up in turtle necks and fleece when the temp plummets below seventy (cold snap)...and the visitors are in flip flops and tank tops LOL

Marcia - We truly get used to having warm weather in Florida and even Toronto natives like us get cold easier. The tourists are determined to get that perfect sunburn at all costs :-)

John,

You are right your blood does thin... we had that problem when it got below 60 in Maui.. then we moved ot Lake Havasu City, AZ where it was 120 in the summer.. so when it got to the 50's we all had coats on... now I live in Williams, AZ at 6500 feet.. so we have had 2 feet of snow since Thanksgiving.. I guess inside is inside... no frozen gators.... lol!

Hi John, I'm glad you still have your winter coat to put on.  Like Marcia said, I guess it's easy to tell the residents from the visitors.  I"m sure the Walmarts have been busy selling warmer clothing.

Carra - You do get around! From Hawaii to AZ is quite a difference in winter. Glad you're adjusting.

Jenny - Walmart will be busy for sure. Most of the year I'm in shorts and a t-shirt but I've got my lined track pants and sweat shirt on now :-)

Myrl - What, you're not smart enough already? Glad to provide the frozen funnies :-)

John,

This definitely is not a night for airboating, and today wasn't all that warm either. :)

Steve - I just went out to get some 40* "fresh" air. We have at least another week of this! Oh well, we'll just use the oven instead of the BBQ for a while :-)

John, Having lived on the left coast of FL for several years, I can feel your pain. Yes, there is something to be said for your blood thinning. Yesterday, it was a balmy below 30 degree day and for awhile I was walking around with just a heavy long sleeved shirt. If I were in FL, I probably would have broken out the parka and leggings...

Michael - Does that mean I live on the "right" coast? :-) It's another cold one here today but at least the sun is out and it's a "balmy" 45* right now. I think I'll go down to the beach and check out the tourists in bikinis with goose bumps :-)

Hi John, I'm with you, it's been cold around here lately.  Airboat rides are definitely out of the question around here right now.  I guess our thin Florida blood does make us intolerant of the cold weather.  Brace yourself, I hear it's going to be cold for the rest of the week.

Hi Sandy - You're right. The weatherman said we are in the cold for at least a week or more and my wife is fed up already. It's cutting into beach time on her days off :-)

Hi John, this must be the place outside Cocoa.  Used to go there on weekends for a burger and watch the gators watch the tourists!
