These last few days I have often found myself reflecting back on the year that just passed. Some of 2009 was good, some was bad and some was just plain in-between. Personally, I was thrilled to see it go!
Now, I hope I'm not wrong, but I think I can hear the ever so faint rumblings of a market that is getting set to take off. NOT, granted, with the incredible speed and incredible prices of the early 2000's, but I do believe that this year the real estate market is going to be better than the last several years. By better, I expect the following to take place:
* Buyers will jump off of that fence they've been sitting on for the last year - because they finally believe me when I tell them that NOW IS THE TIME to get in on some great deals. Honestly, buyers should be in hog heaven right about now regarding choices and prices. Don't let national news trump what is happening LOCALLY! Some prices are already inching up locally. Don't be left behind!
* Sellers will clamber down from the "My house is better" soapbox and will listen to and look at the comparables that I bring them as well as the market trend stats and other facts which show the actual state of our LOCAL market. Please, you simply must trust that I know what I'm talking about. The comparables and statistics don't lie - honest, they don't! I'm in the trenches of real estate every day and have my finger on the pulse of our local market. I KNOW.
* I will be a stronger force to contend with in our market. I have taken many steps to launch myself anew and most importantly, I have embraced technology and will continue to do so. I WILL walk away from the overpriced and/or undercommissioned listing this year so that I can concentrate on ONLY saleable listings. I would much rather have the extra time to blog, take webinars and learn more about perfecting my craft and adding to my value than worry about checking in with no news week after week and spending hours compiling statistics that just aren't getting the necessary message through.
That's the short list for today! I'll be building this one for a good while to come!
