Yes most of here are real estate agents, or mortgage loan officers, or home inspectors. Sure we act respectable and nice on the job. But outside of the job what kind of people are we?
Are you the guy that flips somebody off in the car?
Are you the person that yells at the sales lady behind the counter?
Or you hurting your career by not being professional or nice outside of the job. Let me tell you a story about a guy I know. This guy sells luxury cars, let's say he sells Mercedes. He deals with lots of wealthy people. But when Mr. salesmen goes out he is cheap.
When he is with the guys he says "he forgot his wallet" and doesn't put in his fair share. When him and his wife go out with a group of people he wife usually yells down the table " what did you have" when the bill is being split equally between all the couples. They then pay for their meal but forget the tax, forget some of the drinks they drank, or the appetizers they shared, or leave a cheap tip. He has even argued about that his beer was cheaper than somebody else's so he should pay less.
Here is a guy that sells luxury cars. I can tell you none of the group he goes out with would buy a Mercedes from him. He has given himself a reputation off the job that is hurting his business. Sadly he doesn't even know it.
So what kind of person are you off the job?
- Are you a racist or Chauvinist?
- Are you cheap to the extreme?
- Do you let your temper get the best of you?
- Are you the "drunk"
- Are you the person that can't keep your hands to yourself with the opposite sex?
- Is your foot in your mouth most of the time?
If you answer yes to some of these above you may be hurting your career. It doesn't matter what career you are in, or what you do........... Do you want to be known that way? Sure people may not say anything to your face but I guarantee they are talking about you. If you get known as "Mr. Hands" or "cheap" or "the jerk" it's not going to help your career even if you act differently at work.
Just my thoughts.............
