Warning: Pen Pocket Protector Zone ahead...

Purva Brown recently asked me if we could get Sacramento Home Journal set up so clients could subscribe to it by email.

There are a couple of ways to accomplish this. One is to keep paying GetResponse.com -- which has so far been on my "cost cutting measures" to-do list for some time. Another way would be to use a service specifically designed to do this and not much else, such as FeedBlitz.

In the course of thinking about this, I realized that what I'd really like to do if we're going to implement this is to have some kind of way to construct the Elite Properties email subscription "newsletter" not just from Sacramento Home Journal, but from whatever posts we designate on whatever of the blogs we author that we designate.

We are, after all, a polybloggular company, so our newsletter should be constructed of multiple blogs, not just one.

It turns out that Yahoo Pipes is one of the tools that will let you mash up the feeds (content) from multiple blogs into a single feed, so to test this out I've created a multi-blog feed. There's nothing in it yet, because this is the first post since creating it. Now, Dr. Frankenstein, ve connect up zee lightening und throw zee svitch, yah?

I'll let you know how it goes.

(Returns later with only slight burn marks on face). Well, that wasn't too hard. The major thing is not to forget to draw the pipes, otherwise it's pretty much intuitive if you've been a nerd long enough. I don't seem to be able to view it in a reader correctly yet, however. Come, Igor, let us continue...

By the way, here's the result.

Good info.

I need to work on my nerdiness.  I aspire to be more like the king of the nerds, Bill Gates.
