July 7, 1907 was the introductory date of the famous Hershey Kiss. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of this Hershey Kiss, the Hershey Company had a 12 foot tall Hershey Kiss manufactured and it was unveiled yesterday at Hershey's Chocolate World.

This giant candy weighs over 30,000 pounds, is 12 feet tall and 10 feet wide. There was a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records present for the entire manufacturing process.

The giant Hershey Kiss will be on display only until this Thursday (July12). The company has a slide show of the making of this product at KissSomeOne.com as well as a complete history of this All American candy treat.

Geez.  That's a lot of chocolate.  I found a site where the "construction" process is shown.  Interesting.

We're going to be in a heat wave this coming week.

Thanks Fred.  Interesting for chocolate lovers, like me.

I bet I could eat the whole thing, but I just want to drive through Hershey again and smell the Reese's plant at about 5:00 on a hot, humid day.

I've probably enjoyed about that much chocolate but in much smaller pieces over a very long period of time.  30,000 pounds - WOW !

My daughter's boss had a birthday and asked for a kiss for every year.  We bought him a huge bag of Hershey Kisses, just so he wouldn't think she was ACTUALLY kissing him. LOL

Sounds like the PA Hershey's is doing well.   Our Hershey company here (Oakdale, CA--about 30 miles from me) is closing its doors and heading to Mexico...literally hundreds of of people have lost their jobs.  Makes me sad.........

That was an interesting video. What will they do with all that chocolate afterwards?

Thank you all for the comments.

The giant kiss, as I understand it, is to be taken back to the factory and re-manufactured back into the normal size product.

Unfortunately, I start a new diet this morning, so I won't get to try any.
