Dale, What do you think of the solar panels?  I remember some neighbors getting them back in the 1980's but they were so huge.  Has techology come along?

Dale,

That is interesting. There is quite a lot of talk around here about energy and winterization.

Howdy there Marchel, Steven

Its always a pleasure to have both of you stop by to visit, and to read and reply back to your comments. On this blog post, here at my little ole New Hampshire Blogging Homestead, my friends

Marchel -
I think one advantage for folks to use solar panels, they can sure make energy accessible in places where energy is scarce, expensive to put in, or totally unavailable. Some areas up here don't have access to power grids. Lets say you have bought some land up on a mountain, build a home. Now your ready to add power to your home. But you need power poles to bring the power line to your home. Will lets say 15 poles are needed to do this. Your going to looking at about $13,500.00 just for the poles, and you still have pay to have them put in, and the line. To bring power to your home. In some areas you don't even have to be building on a mountain, and you'll need to pay for the power to brought to your home.

The newer higher efficient panels, folks need fewer of them to generate a larger amount of power for their home. And with the smallers ones, folks still have lots of roof space left over.

Steven - well folks are looking for ways to save money. Solar photovoltaics provided 0.04% of the world's total primary energy supply in 2004, and we should see the growth reach at least 0.40% this year.

Dale sounds like they are trying to help folks by offering a variety of alternatives. You are right about the cost to run electricity from the road to your home especially if you live in rural areas.

My friends, Its always a pleasure to have y'all stop by to sit and visit for a spill, and to read and write a reply to the kind comments y'all always take the time to leave. Here at my little ole New Hampshire Blogging Homestead.

It sure can get mighty pricy to have power poles and lines, put in just so your home can have power to. Thats for sure!!!

It looks a lot better on paper than, what really happens for folks in some areas.

Just wanted to check back in to see if you had any new comments. Just got our electric bill, it just keeps going up, up and up every month. What happened to the good old days when electricity was cheap?
