LoCoco's Cucina Rustica - Santa Rosa Ca - Italian Restaurants - Sonoma County Wine Country Lifestyle

My wife and I don't go out to dinner often so we tend to be very picky with the places we like to go to eat. If we find a new restaurant that's not very good the first time we go there, we usually don't come back. Through the years, we've narrowed down the list of our favorite restaurants to a handfull of places that we love going back to depending on the type of food we're both in the mood for. One of our top notch most favorite restaurants in the Sonoma County Wine Country is LoCoco's Cucina Rustica. Most people just call it LoCoco's. We call it delicious Italian!

My wife grew up in Florence Italy, so she's always looking for a great Italian Restaurant whenever we visit a new town. Well, she's pretty thrilled with the Italian food at LoCoco's! I was sold the first night we went there and I love going back whenever we go out. The atmosphere is open and friendly. The service is efficient and timely. And the food is "multo bene molto bene!" Ok, my Italian is really bad, so my wife is going to correct this when she reads it. Anyway, the atmosphere can get quite lively there at night because the restaraunt has an open floor plan with a second floor overlooking the first floor. When the place is full, it can get pretty load. But, that's to be expected when your having fun. My wife tells me the Italians love a lively atmosphere when their eating because it's important to socialize and have fun with your friends and family when your at the dinner table. Boy do we have fun!

Let's dive into the food! I'm already hungry just thinking about this place!

First, off, LoCoco's Olive Tapenade is to die for! They bring this to you with their warmed italian bread as soon as you sit down. The menu is a balanced collection of seafood, pasta and meat dishes. Here are my LoCoco's favorites:

  • Appetizer - Calamari Fritti, La Bruschetta and Tomino Al Forno. Ok I admit, I love the appetizer's at LoCoco's and usually will order two of them.
  • Salad - I'll usually get either the Cesare (Cesar Salad with real anchovies) or the Arugula Salad. Both are light and have just enough flavors added to them to make you want more!
  • Main Dish - For pasta, I love the Lasagne Bolognese. It's a wonderful hearty dish that hits my tastebuds on all cylinders. If I'm in the mood for meat, I will order LoCoco's Pappardelle Con Cinghiale which is homemade wild boar sausage and forest mushrooms. Finally, for seafood lovers, I usually ask for the Salmon Special.
  • Desert - My wife tells me the Italian's are not known for their deserts, but they do have a few dishes here at LoCoco's that can change your mind. My top three ( yes, I'm a desert fan!) are the Tiramisu, the cannolli, and the creme brule (a French dish).
  • Wine - LoCoco's wine selection seems like a healthy list of good local wines for those who enjoy the "vino" with their meal. I'm not a big wine guy, but I've had several good glasses there. Don't ask me what they were!

And, finally, I have to mention the Service and Staff. Most of the waiters at LoCoco's are Italian or Speak Italian, so you get to experience their wonderful Italian Style of Service. We've been furtunate enough to work with every waiter their and enjoy each one's unique style of interaction with our table. Once in a while, the owner and Chef will come around to check up on you to make sure you enjoyed your meal. My wife usually charms the heck out of the staff by conversing in Italian with everyone there!

Ok, my time is up so I'm going to finish by thank you for dropping by and reading this post titled,"LoCoco's Cucina Rustica - Santa Rosa Ca - Italian Restaurants - Sonoma County Wine Country Lifestyle" I hope the list of dishes helps you start your dining experience at LoCoco's with a bang!

LoCoco's Cucina Rustica is on 117 4th Street, in Santa Rosa, Ca in the Old Railroad Square. You can reach them at 707-523-2227 for reservations. Enjoy!

Hi Anthony: Is the Calamari Fritti nice and tender - I love Calamari but only if it is done well.

Since traveling is not in our immediate plans (gotta replenish the coffers), our major indulgence is dining. And I appreciate it when we find wonderful places to eat. Glad to see you doing the same thing. Maybe when we're in your neck of the woods, we'll check it out.
