I need a new web hosting service and fast!!

Hi,

Cutting to the chase. I need a reliable hosting service. I'm using godaddy and currently anyone responding to an email from me gets booted undeliverable due to spam. I've done nothing different. But this last week I have come across this situation. It's really not a good thing when I am finally getting somewhere with my internet business. UGH! I called godaddy and they were useless. telling me  things I could already see about my account. Isn't tech help supposed to be smarter than me? They say that my emails *may* have a code that they can't read, stemming from possibly a link in my siggy. His advice was to take out the links.....uh I don't think so! I did go to my blog(siggy link in email) and took out the postlet as that was the last thing that I put there. ...didn't help.

I got some reviews of go daddy and other folks have had a similar issue with their email also.

Do any of you make your own site?

Do you have a good host provider?, with good email. I got a reccomendation for phpwebhosting.....looks great but when I went to sign up this morning I got a dns server error...

TIA

Point 2 Agent is the best I have ever had.  I have been with them for over three years now and I love them.  Can't say that about any of the others I have had.  Email me and I will send you a link and it will be good for a free website.  Yes free!!  I pay for mine but it is upgraded from the free one.  I used the free until I was comfortable moving up to a paid one and its only $49.00 per month but I have access to 250 pages, unlimited email and domains.  It is designed just for Realtors and Mike parker in Broker Agent news just wrote an article about it another aspect of Point 2.  http://www.brokeragentnews.com/news/residential/2007_7/7_5_2007_ds_1183696736.html that links to Mike's article.

You have nothing to loose with Point2.  They are growing at the rate of 1000 new accts per week.

I utilize web.com for many of our sites.  There plans are good and affordable and the layout is ver y user friendly.  They provide all the site stats and have minimal down time.  Be careful when transferring the domain from goaddy.com, they commonly will resell your domain to another in another country.  Be sure to unlock it in your control panel before switching to a service provider.

Mary:  I can so relate to your pain.  I have my own custom site that I manage and have used several different host. I had an awful experience a few years ago where I ended up with one in India.  It was cheap and I got what I paid for.  I LOVE WHO I AM WITH NOW.   They are not the cheapest but I can't tell you how helpful they have been.  Here's their website www.CommerceStreet.com Paul Fuhrmeister is who I have dealt with.  My forms are always a problem when I got to a new host and he helped me get them all set up.  Any time I have a concern I can give him a call and he is a great help.

I use www.askgopherwebhosting.com and I'm a very happy customer. It's a do it yourself web company but they have a step by step studio that anyone could use.

Thanks all for your input so far. I got high reccommendations for phpwebhosting.com from another message board. I am thinking I'll try it and not transfer my domain name. I don't have to I don't think. I figure rather than deal with godaddy transfer issues I'll just point the nameserver to PHP. I think my site will be down for 24 hours. PHPwebhosting offers hosting of  ultiple domains. This may be good for having properties with their own domain names without having to incurr additional fees. The control panel is really simple....I hope it works.

I looked at Point 2 and it seems to me to be a community of web pages and I will look into having an additional site there instead of giving it the one I have.

1and1.com got good reviews elsewhere also.

Thanks so much for the help.

Mary Ann:  Good luck on whatever you go with.  You are right you should not have to transfer your domain, your new host can either transfer it for you or it is not hard to do yourself.

I agree about the point 2 agent site.  I think it is a great place to have an additional site.  I like all the funtionality and am working on getting mine customized but it is an additional site for me.

Mary-

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your hosting. We actually have our own server that we host our sites from so we have quite a bit of background in dealing with DNS, email forwarding and web hosting. The bounced email actually sounds like an issue with the email as opposed to your websaite itself. We have seen this with some people we do business with before.

Best of luck to you and if you have any questions you would like to ask us feel free to let me know.

Stuart:

Thanks for the offer. Believe me I thought about looking at the price of servers myself. ...but alas it would be yet another learning curve, not to mention the dollars. I bet it would be worth it if I was a broker....or when I become a broker..lol

I realize the problem wasn't the site but the email. I was really just not happy with godaddy response to the issue. Also, a couple weeks ago I got an email that they had switched my server and that I should check my site to see if it iwas functioning. Well, jeez you would think they could have given notice of that ahead of time.

My website is not the be all end all of my internet existance, but it is definately part of the working puzzle and when a peice desn't have reliablility I will look like I am not reliable as an agent.

I am up on the new server and have functioning email!!!woohoo!

peace,
