After a year long hiatus, I'm officially back to work. I have to admit that I'm just a little nervous. I've moved more than 2,000 miles from my client base, purchased a new home, and now I'm facing the monumental task of starting all over again.
When I left California I had a solid client base. My SOI was 100% responsible for generating business. I hadn't advertised or solicited business from strangers for an entire year. Now, I'm starting from scratch in a new market with a very small SOI.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that this is a great opportunity! I'm relearning all of the basics that we, as seasoned agents, tend to forget over time. We get so busy that we fall into a routine and forget to keep learning. I suddenly have a new found enthusiasm for learning again! I'm soaking up advertising and marketing ideas like a giant sponge and my mind is constantly running. I wake up in the middle of the night to jot down ideas in my notebook. What an opportunity for me! What an opportunity for my clients!
Maybe we should all start over every few years. Break the mold! Learn something new! Take the time to remember what it was like to be a newly licensed agent full of hope and possibility!
Carpe diem...
