NATURE WALKS AND CANOE TRIPS AT BURLCO PARKS

Burlington County will offer free guided canoe trips from Rancocas State Park and nature walks from July through September in its county parks: Smith's Woods in Eastampton; Long Bridge Park in Hainesport; Amico Island Park in Delran; and Pennington in Delanco.

· Kayak/Canoe on the Rancocas, 9 a.m., Sunday, July 15 and Sept. 16 beginning and ending at Rancocas State Park in Westampton, with a picnic lunch at Long Bridge Park. Not recommended for novices. Participants must bring their own canoes or kayaks and lunches. Registration is required by calling (609) 265-5068.


· Summer Wildflower Walks, 9-11 a.m. on the following Wednesdays: July 11 at Amico Island; July 18 at Pennington Park; Aug. 15 at Long Bridge Park; and Aug. 22 at Smith's Woods.


· Butterflies of Burlington County at Long Bridge Park, Sunday, July 22, 2 p.m. Rain cancels.


· Fall Migration, Saturday, Sept. 1, 8-10 a.m. at Amico Island. Beginning birdwatchers are invited to learn skills for identifying migrant birds.


· Fall Wildflower Walk at Long Bridge Park, Saturday, Sept. 15, 10 a.m. to noon. Rain cancels.


· Bird Migration, 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Pennington Park; and Sept. 26 at Amico Island. Bring your binoculars.


Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring bottled water. Space is limited and registration is required for all events involving canoes. Registration is encouraged for all other events. To register, call (609) 265-5068.

Meet at the information kiosk in the park on the day of the event.

Amico Island Park is located on Norman Avenue off St. Mihiel Drive (River Road) Delran. Long Bridge Park is located on Deacon Road and the Mt. Holly Bypass, Hainesport. Pennington Park is located on Creek Road, Delanco. Smith's Woods is located at Historic Smithville Park on Railroad Ave. off Smithville Road, Eastampton.
