I love riding on passenger trains through the mountains - with the scenery changing around every turn! Great shots.
Liz I live an hour and a hlf from Silverton and never have done the train, Colorado native, now I am inspired to put it on our list of things to do. If you hit Montrose give us a call.
Liz, That is supposed to be an awesome train ride. And how cool that it's used for the Polar Express!
What a beautiful train and piece of history. It would be wonderful to take the family on a ride on this.
I've been on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad many times, first in July 1973 and most recently in July 1999. I've done both summer and winter rides, but I think I enjoy the summer rides better.
Beautiful pictures - very romantic setting! Your informational writing is appreciated!
Liz - the glory days of steam - as a retired steamfitter I enjoy all the old trains and steam boats and paddle wheelers they have brought back as tourist attractions
Liz, You have some great photos. It sounds like a great train ride. Another great train ride is the "Heber Creeper" which is just a few miles from Park City, Utah. I have ridden it and it was great.
