Every January 6th the citizens of Tarpon Springs, FL. gather to Celebrate the Greek Orthodox Celebration of Epiphany.  This tradition is to Give Blessing to The Boats and The Sea which provide the fishing villages of Greece and Tarpon Springs, FL. with it's livelyhood.

The Epiphany Precession starts at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Tarpon Springs Florida and Travels down to the waterfront where Young Men dive into the Local waters to retrieve a symbolic cross.  The man who retrieves the cross and his family are blessed along with the waters and the boats of the village.

If you are in the area of Tarpon Springs, Florida be sure to visit the Celebration.  Tarpon Springs is Located south of Port Richey and Holiday Florida on The Gulf of Mexico.  The city is filled with wonderful shoppes and restaurants where everyone is welcome.

I myself am not of Greek Heritage but I will be Braving the Cold Front to join in the Celebration.  Fun, Food and Shopping are the key elements of Tarpon Springs, Florida.  When you visit, be sure to stop into the Diving Museumwhere you can see traditional diving suits used for sponge farming.  You can also feed live sharks at the Local Aquarium and take a Boat Tour where an actual diver in Traditional Diving Gear will go down and retrieve actual sponges from the water.  The many restaurants of Tarpon Springs serve up traditional Greek Cuisine and Pastries.

The temperature today will be in the low 50's and the water temp is a cool 50 degrees for the brave men's enjoyment.

I started off with one client that is Greek. I treated her right, and she unleashed a floodgate of Greeks in her clan.  I'm quite certain that if I ever did one of them wrong, I'd be finished with the whole lot of them. ;^)
