January 6, 2009.

Today is Twelfth Night, also called the Epiphany, and the 12th day of the Twelve Days of Christmas, in the English tradition. (English Christmas begins on Christmas Eve, when the tree goes up, and it comes down on January 6th).

The Magi, the Wise Men, are celebrated on Twelfth Night. A special cake with a coin inside is a traditional dessert -- the one who gets the coin gets the luck for the coming year.

Traditions are links to our past and markers to our future.

For those who celebrate Twelfth Night, enjoy!

I was always told that the tree should come down BEFORE twelfth night, ot it's bad luck. Depends on who you ask, I guess. Ours came down last night.
