Visting four Open Houses today, 2 in Mystic, 1 in New London and 1 in Niantic each Realtor hosting the Open Houses mentioned that prospective homebuyers had been by to see the home.  The home in Niantic was visited by 8 different parties in the first hour.

All four homes were in the price range that has been popular with first time home buyers.  I realize that not everyone may be qualified, but it was an indication of interest in the real estate marketplace.  After reading and seeing so many negative articles in the media about real estate, this was an informal indicator of activity out there.

I hope that this was something that everyone else saw throughout the country.

Phil, I did three Open Houses today and two last weekend. They were not as busy as they had been in previous weeks, but that was probably because of the July 4th holiday.  Even with the holiday in between they still had good activity at each one.

Phil:

I think that more folks are trying to get their home now with price reductions and very competitive loan programs and historically low interest rates. Sellers may not get their asking price, but if those sellers are trying to buy something else, they will also find that they can afford more house for the money today.

Good Observation!
