The future of photography

A lot has changed since the early days of photography. And we continue to make advances.

WE all know that digital photography opened up whole new possibilities. I stumbled upon the live labs website and was blown away at one direction photography could take.

Microsoft's Photosynth is a new way to view pictures. It weaves together thousands of photos. The subject can then be studied from all sides. It's a lot like walking into a picture! Simply amazing, isn't it?

Microsoft has a limited number of collections. In a way, that's good. Otherwise, you could spend hours navigating through the photos!

David and Kaushik,

That was an Opp's on my part. Link is now added. I guess that site just blew me away. I put the front link so you could do more exploring. What do you think?

Very interesting!  I will need to look into this further, but very cool!

I heard about this, it sounds just too good to be true. Basically you throw a bunch of pictures of the same general area  but at different angles and it can compile them into a 3-d image. It looks cool, but like most of the microsoft programs, it sounds heavy (slow and covered with bugs) and expensive. Wait until version 2 comes out.

Thanks and good luck,

Christopher and Bernadette you are right. The program required a special link for windows XP and was a tedious download. I ended up removing it from my system last night due to the slow action of the program. It is a wow factor for those who love experimenting with digital photos.

You are welcome, Bill. That is what I enjoy most about the AR community. Being able to check out some tip or idea from someone else.Photosynth is fancinating but the photo "geeks" will definitely get the most out of it.
